So, for those of you who have already gone to this reception in your city, what was it like? How many students were there? Did they make the fabled announcement they made last year? Any other comments? San Jose's reception is not until after admission decisions are out, so it would be nice to hear from students who have already attended one of these receptions. Thanks!

I’ll be going to the one in L.A today at 12:30. I’ll keep you updated. :)

@christines07 please and thanks! for keeping us updated. I was invited to the one in LA today, but I was busy and couldn’t attend

No problem!

So basically they announced that anyone who was invited to the reception has been accepted into UCSB! It also means that we’re in the honors program, which gives us priority class room choices and, from what I’ve heard, honors housing.

Most of the program was based on showing the highlights of UCSB’s programs and teachers. They told us about the different colleges, such as Letters and Sciences and Engineering, and explained just about their programs. There were students, teachers, etc who answered questions that people from the audience asked.

The whole thing just made me want to go even more! It’s a beautiful school with great academic standings and programs (their exchange program is crazy great)!

Can’t wait to see some of you there next year!

I was at the one in LA today and while they did say we were all admitted to UCSB, they didn’t clarify that we were in the honors program to the best of my knowledge. The only thing they said on the topic was that we would be notified if we go into the honors program when we received our official acceptance in a few weeks.

wait so you’re sure that if you got an invitation that means an acceptance? sweeeet

I was at the LA event today too. I want to confirm that if you were invited to this event, you are accepted to UCSB. In the general session, they did NOT say that everyone was accepted to the honors college. However, in the Engineering breakout session, they did mention that everyone in that room was accepted to the honors program. So I’m not quite sure if it’s true for everyone or just engineering applicants. Everyone will know when the decisions are released.
