Are you in Swanson? It seems that the scholarships in engineering were more competitive maybe? My daughter is in Dietrich. Stats pretty similar, 1550 CR+M SAT unw 4.0 gpa, rank 1/250.
She also applied to Stamps in October, but got an email that she won’t go further in the selection process.
@mommdc Yeah, bioengineering major. That’ll probably change though
@localdreamer15 and @mommdc - were the “thanks but no” sent via email or postal letter?
@amandakayak, the Chancellor’s one was by postal mail dated 1/29.
The Stamps one by email on the same day I think.
@sinjbad i got an email inviting me down to Pittsburgh for the interview, not a general applicant email. it seems that the “thanks but no thanks” notifications were sent with a letter.
@gschally i applied on my deadline Jan 26 and got the email Feb 2, the same day as my twin who applied long before. So a very fast turnaround! And my stats aren’t as impressive as past kids…2190 sat, 35 act, 700/650 math ii, 720 us history, 790 English. My extracurriculars are local, nothing crazy.
@indianboy2400 it came to my personal email about a week after applying
I haven’t received an email or letter through mail.
I got the email inviting me to interview yesterday. Just discovered it today!
Damn…got rejected
Has everyone been notified, or does it go by when they received our applications?
I applied in November and haven’t heard anything yet, @indianboy2400 did you get it by mail or email?
@sarah10929 Snail mail. If you haven’t heard anything, it’s probably a rejection (which sucks).
@indianboy2400 I spoke with someone from Pitt and they said that decisions are released based on when the application was received. And even if this isn’t true, I’m going to stay optimistic
Also, are you instate?
@sinjbad thats a good outlook! when did you send yours in?
@sarah10929 Around early-mid January (5-15?). Hbu?
@sinjbad the end of November, I don’t think I got it but at least I still got a good scholarship from them
@sarah10929 if you don’t mind me asking, are you instate or out of state?
@sinjbad I’m out of state, what about you?
@sarah10929 OOS as well.
The students who have received interview invites so far are all from OOS, correct? And had majors other than engineering?
At this point it isn’t about stats I would gather, all of the students who applied for Chancellor’s were top students.
I am thinking they are looking for something “out of the box” that really distinguishes these students.
@mommdc, just to add to your theory…My son is in-state, an engineering major, and he received the “no-interview” letter the other day too.
