“No interviews will be conducted on the following dates: March 16, 22 and April 8.”

He gave some preferred dates and she replied back with times available on those dates. Does she have to go for the honors admitted students day? It sounds like they will help you set up tours, department meetings, sitting in on classes, etc. She might get a better idea of what the campus is really like if she doesn’t go on one of those circus days. We’re actually trying to avoid those at other schools!

When my son was invited for the interview last year, we decided to skip the honors admitted day event. We did not want to make two trips. After the interview, we just stopped by @ honors college and had a nice discussion with a young man at the front desk and got the info we missed. Congrats and good luck to those who got invited.

IIRC you should also be contacted by a current CS before your interview (by phone if I’m correct). But in the case that that actually happens after, you should ask them, when you make your interview date, if you can be set-up with a current UHC student who can show you around for a bit. I know personally I have had people call/contact me sometimes as short as the night before and I’ve met up with them on campus and given them my personal tour, had a meal, and answered questions.

@MommyDearest13 thanks again for all of your helpful info. Is Friday April 5 an interview date or a blackout date? Since my daughter is coming from CA - the hope was that she would stay for 4 days and do the “circus” day and some custom things that Pitt will help us setup. I think that will help her maximize a long visit and meet a lot of people. She’ll probably be traveling on her own and staying on campus with a Pitt Pathfinder.

I would assume it is open for interviews since it’s not listed on the blackout days. That’s not to say that the interview spots are still open…that might be a big spring break week so some of those notified earlier might have claimed the spots. Maybe they do it differently for those notified later though. If she gets invited, you should call to see if they can arrange the interview for a day that she’ll be there.

2/25/13 - no news as of today here in CA. There have not been any interview status updates for awhile - if anyone else has heard either way, or is still waiting - please chime in. Thanks!

^Same. No interview invitation or letter of “no interview.” CrsPrnt, may I ask when your daughter submitted her scholarship application? I recall submitting mine around December 10.

I don’t remember too much on what my S told me after the interview. It was longer than I expected. He was in there longer than an hour. Two parts - he first met with 2-3 Honor College people and one-on-one with Chancellor himself. I think it was more of “get to know the student” type interview.

Has anybody who has been notified either way had a status change from “in process” on the chancellor’s scholarship website? If so, what is the new status and when did it change? Thanks.

3/1/13 - bad news arrived today in CA via snail mail. No interview for my daughter. As this may help others - there was no email notice and no change to the online status which still says “in process”. The letter was dated 2/22/13 - postage dated 2/25/13 - and postmarked 2/26/13. Good luck to all of you who interview. It is likely that some of you will encounter my daughter at Pitt in the fall. Thanks to those who posted in this forum - the posts were most helpful as we waited to hear.

Son received the no letter this past Thursday. However he had very good news from NC State on the very same day. He received their version of the Chancellor Scholarship. There goes my dream of having both of my kids at the same university but son is very happy.
Good luck to every one!
