Just want to give you update on the interview. My S attended on friday and it was informal session. They asked about application materials and presented him with a literature book at the end of interview. It seems 68 were called for interview to be spread across 2.5 months. So not sure if they were all invited already but 4 students on mon and fri each till april 12th.

Sorry for those who got mail on no interview but full tuiton is awsome as well. good luck to those who are having intereview in coming weeks.

Jrkiyer (autocorrect wants to call you jerkily ear lol), did they tell him when they expect to notify who gets the scholarship? It looks like last year it was just days before May 1!!

No interview for me too. Got the letter 2/25

Yes they said they will notify him in 2 weeks

Hmmm…I wonder how they’re doing that since they will only be through half the interviews at that point.

Oh geez I’ll hear a couple days before Ivy Day then. That’ll be a stressful week.

68 were called… interesting. In the past I heard it was 50 or something, I wonder if they’re giving more or it’s just more competitive?

Mommydearest13, I was thinking the same but maybe this way they can clear way for other students waiting in line for interview incase they are not selected. Not sure how it works though.

My S scheduled his for one of the later dates so he wouldn’t have to miss any school…I hope that wasn’t a mistake!

I just had mine and they said that 68 students are interviewing for 10-12 scholarships and we will all be notified on or around April 15th

jj119…that makes more sense. Good info - thanks for sharing!

Sorry mommydearest, my bad on that notification date. Have to check with my S next time correctly.
Anyone know which one is better option ? Umich full tuition vs Upitt full tuition vs Michigan state full tuition?

If you got full tuition then definitely Umich…

thanks Xtremepower. yes he got full tuition covered with umich merit scholarships. Not sure if it is worth waiting on Upitt chancellor results if it comes late april though.

Jrkiyer, I agree with wondering if waiting for the Pitt Chancellor is worth it. I wonder what their rationale for waiting until the end of April is.

Michigan is a great choice though, and if you have a full tuition scholarship, that’s hard to pass up.

I think because they conduct interviews up until mid-April. They can’t make a decision without interviewing everyone first.

What I meant was, why do they not make a point of scheduling the interviews earlier so that they can notify the winners in a more timely fashion. I’ve been following this process for three years, and it seems as if they could easily start the interview process earlier than what they do. So I have to assume that they intentionally want to wait until the end of April to notify the winners. The question is why? Are they trying to see who is “left”? (Who didn’t get into their Ivy or accepted a full ride somewhere else.)

I think it is a big advantage for Pitt to give kids news early. If I am remembering correctly, my daughter had full tuition before Christmas. It was a huge factor in her school choice. Well, it was THE factor.

If kids are interviewed and selected for the Chancellor’s early, all other offers are measured against it. Even if it is the end of February or early March. It is not my decision, however.

I agree, MD Mom. But I also know that Pitt consistently proceeds with a well thought out process in all facets of their institution, and I just can’t figure out what their angle is with this. Not that it matters, but I love to try to figure out things like this.
