Does UCLA also offer Chancellor's Scholarship? Or just Regents?

I got something in the mail from University of California, Riverside (UCR) and it said that I was selected to receive the Chancellor's Scholarship, which is an honorium that pays 75 percent of all in-state fees.

If you applied to UCR, as well as UCLA, look out for that.

Well for other UC's don't they combine Chancellor's and Regents? UCLA only labels it Regents (never heard it used w/ Chancellors) but if you read through the awards section of the UC handbook, for the UCs that award the Chancellor's scholarship, it's written in conjuction with the Regents so in the end its just at its core a Regent's scholarship.

eiffelguy87, good job. I got something like that from UCR too. although it was the regent's one. are there anymore levels of compeition? or are we all done and have already been awarded the scholarship?

For the Chancellor's, they read my app and selected me; no more paperwork, no more essays, etc. I just need to enroll.

But UCR was my safety; now it's not only my academic safety, but financial safety. They pay $4500 this year; since I'm nearby, I don't need housing.

Hmm...so there is a difference between the Chancellors and the Regents? Is the selectivity the same? So does the Chancellors generally offer more money than the Regents? The award part of the UC handbook doesn't make any distinction between the Chancellor's and the Regent's scholarship. Also are the only UCs that you need to apply for them UCLA and Cal? I know UCI and UCSD offers them without any additional information required outside of the general UC application but I didn't apply to UCR last year.

It's the bastard child of the UC, re-welcomed into the family since the opening of UC Merced.

UCR it's a good school though; not a top 25 or top 50, but it's a nice place to be if you didn't do so well in HS and want to start fresh. Not to say that UCR doesn't have valedictorians or salutatorians.

Ok, I just wasn't sure. I mean, this UC offering a out of state guy with mediocre SATs got me thinking. Thanks for the info. What is it's strongest major?

i live in sacramento, so i think i am going down to visit the school and such. have you found out much about the scholarship? i didnt even know it existed

I'm from NH and I was awarded the Chancellor's Scholarship for UCR. I won't be going to the scholarship celebration, however because I live 3000 miles from the school and I will be going to a medical school interview the next Monday so it doesn't make sense for me to visit two different places in three days.

I live in the Inland Empire, near Riverside. It's not LA, but the local university village is pretty decent. I have many friends there and they enjoy themselves. It's a more relaxed atmosphere and all in all, it's a good school.

That's for the correction about the out-of-state thing.
