Just UCLA!!! Does anyone know how Berkeley’s regent scholarship works for transfer students?!

I got one from UCLA too! I have not heard from anyone else yet. This makes me feel a lot better; I was starting to get worried about the other schools. I am also interested in how Berkeley works with the regents scholarship.

just UCLA.

I heard Berk is more selective in sending regent invitations. Rather than like how UCLA sends to students with 4.0s, Berk actually checks your EC’s/essays first. Thus, their process of selecting students to invite takes longer.

): so UCSB’s regent scholarship is only for freshmen?

sobs

ah but I did get UCI’s

I have UCI :O

Have Regents for Davis. Nada for UCLA or Cal.

Hm, is it 4.0’s only at all the UCs? I have a 3.93. I know I won’t get it at UCLA and Berkeley (I assume, even if it’s holistic). Is there a chance a lower GPA could get it at UCI, UCSB, or UCSC?

…Wait, why is UCSB not on that list?

for UCI it is a 3.8 and above. Also UCSD only offers it to freshman and transfer that participates in University Link

My daughter received regents scholarship from UCD last week, get accepted into UCSD and UCLA without any scholarship. She has 2320 SAT and 4.3 GPA. Wondering if she still has chance to get regents from UCLA or UCSD? Has not heard anything from UCB yet.

^^ this thread is for transfer students not freshman

If I received one from UCLA, does that mean i’m in??

^no 10char

Well, that’s awkward… I wasn’t aware that universities other than UCLA even offered the Regent’s scholarship. Of course it makes sense if I think about it, but it hadn’t crossed my mind for some reason.

On that note, I’ve only heard from UCLA. I’m pretty down that Berkeley didn’t send me anything… :(

Hey guys,

I’ve also received a UCLA Regent’s invite. I’d also like to know if anybody here got a UCB Regent’s invite.

There are some posters on a normal admissions thread talking about already receiving acceptances for so-and-so Regent’s. Does this mean that if I haven’t received it already, I won’t receive it at all?

Judging by some of the stuff I’ve read here, hopefully, just hopefully, UCB is:
-reviewing the actual application in-depth.
-should come out within this week? (3/26-3/30)
-Since UCLA says they accept “towards end of April” and UCB is April 27th, can we assume that UCB is just taking longer?

Or does UCB not even offer Regent’s for transfers?

Definitely very anxious on my end right now.

hharsono, it looks like the do indeed offer it to transfer students, based on the information here: [UC Berkeley Financial Aid and Scholarships Office: Undergraduates » Types of Aid » Scholarships » Regents’ and Chancellor’s Scholarship FAQ](http://students.berkeley.edu/finaid/undergraduates/RCfaq.htm)

"All students who apply to UC Berkeley are automatically considered for the scholarship. This includes entering from high school students, out-of-state students, transfer students, and international students. "

I wouldn’t give up all hope yet for hearing from UCB. Freshmen will have heard by now, but not transfers. They say they don’t release their decisions to transfers until mid-May, so I’m thinking we may not even be notified til mid-to-late April.

Pardon my ignorance (and I suppose I could Google it, but I figured someone would give me a short and sweet answer here), but what is a Regent’s Scholarship? I’ve seen a lot of people post about it, but never heard of it.

^

[University of California - Scholarships](http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/paying-for-uc/scholarships/index.html)

Plus, some campuses might offer you priority registration, parking, housing, library access, etc.

:o

Hope I get an invite after I apply. Hee hee.

does applying to these scholarships or not applying them hurt the admission chances?
