Just wondering from years past, what were the chances of someone getting in if they were deferred? This is probably a stupid question but: Do they defer everyone who does not get accepted or only border line? Do I have a good chance of acceptance?

What are they going to look for in January-March?

This is from Admission blog and Rick Clark, the admission director of Ga Tech.

“One important to note is that students are frequently deferred from the fall to the spring and then offered admission. So while it can be more difficult to be admitted in the fall, many students who applied at the first or second deadline did receive an admission offer from Tech in March.”

Also, Ga Tech accepted 150 from waiting list last fall. Also some students got summer offer. So I would say that you still got good chance.

No, since early notification applicants tend to stronger than regular applicants, being deferred means that your applicant is being put in regular admission pool.

Only after March regular admission finished, if your applicant still not strong enough, your applicants put into waiting list pool. Last year there was 150 students waiting list pool got accepted even after that.

basically…take any Standardized tests to improve your chances…and keep up with ur grades…cause generally they ask for ur first semester grades as well…and if possible get involved with an activity that you are interested in…ur chances of getting in are still good…but its mostly dependent on the general competitiveness of the applicant pool and the comparative value of your application as a whole…for comparison sake :…i got a 32 on the ACT, i have taken/will take 7 AP courses, i have a 3.9 GPA. My job/athletic section was completely blank though i had some decent ECs. Just thought this would help gauge where u stand. (i got accepted)
