Chances of getting into Georgia Tech after deferral?

Hey guys, I’m an in state student and got deferred from GA Tech for Early action. My stats are 2050 superscored sat, 29 on the act (31,31,30,24) 12 AP Classes, 3.76 GPA. I have 6 clubs this year and had 7 last year. I ran track and cross country last year. I am a clarinet player and have made the Atlanta Youth Wind Symphony for 3 years (principal clarinetist this year). I have made the Allstate band 5 times and various other prestigious ensembles.

What should I do from this point? I’m almost certain I earned a high chair at all state band this year, so that’s an achievement to put on the Deferral form. Should I retake my SAT to get a better score? Late registration deadline is January 13th so I still could. I’ve given up on running but I’m even considering joining track again in order to put that on my application. Any help would be appreciated along with chances/tips. I really want to go to Tech and hearing the decision completely killed me.

Thanks in advance guys

Yes, I would retake the SAT as that is the only thing you can do to get yourself moved up on the list other than sit and wait and you won’t always wonder what would have happened if you had just gone ahead and done the SAT again. Just go do it! And Good Luck!

Thanks m7221. I’m also thinking of something along the lines of volunteering at a church or animal shelter or something, just adding onto my extracurriculars and community service a bit.

Update: Spoke to my counselor. She said my application was fairly strong but their selection process was different this year because kids with lower GPAs, SATs, and amount of APs were admitted, and many other strong people have been deferred as well. I am taking the SAT again though. I am hopeful because my GPA rose, I made allstate and district band and I can put that under awards and honors for my application, and my GPA increased from a 3.76 to a 3.79 with last semester’s grades.
