Chances Amherst, Yale, Stanford....

Chances for the following schools: Amherst, Brown, JHU, Pepperdine, Princeton, Stanford, Tufts, USC, WashU, Wesleyan, Yale
I really can't tell where I have a chance because my gpa and act score is a little low but I'm strong elsewhere. My school sends about 3 students to each ivy including Stanford every year. I've been accepted to BC and Northeastern early.

I’d say that most, if not, all, of the schools you plan on applying to are reach schools (just like UPenn is for me). Your ECs look interesting and your SAT IIs are solid. If your essays are great (which I can imagine they are), then your chances remain slim, but don’t be surprised if at least one of these schools were to admit you. Good luck applying! And if you get rejected from all of them, don’t worry, you already have some very good colleges to fall back on :)

You have a good chance at all your schools. If you get rejected, don’t be discouraged because they are crapshoots even for the most competitive applicants.

Are you from CA? I’m asking because you have Pepperdine on your list, which doesn’t quite fit , IMHO. Why not look at the Consortium? Are you interested in NS as a major?

“ACT: 31, 32 superscore” That’s the 25 percentile of enrolled students at Yale ONLY IF Yale superscores ACT’s.

Realistically, your reaches are Amherst and Brown, and your high matches/low reaches are Wesleyan, Tufts, WashU, JHU

Your school may have students who are legacies, which could explain its sending several students per year to top schools.

If your ACT was a 34 or 35 then you would have a good chance at amherst, pepperdine, tufts.

my major is philosophy/polisci

I have an aunt who is a professor at JHU and another at Stanford. Does that help my chances at those schools?

Amherst, reach
Brown, reach
JHU, high match
Pepperdine, match
Princeton, high reach
Stanford, high reach
Tufts, high match
USC, low reach
Yale, high reach

Amherst, Brown, Princeton, Stanford, and Yale reach
JHU, Pepperdine, Tufts, and USC match

Might look at Holy Cross-top25 LAC.

An aunt is not an immediate family member, and you are not a legacy. I think the answer is no. However, I knew someone who had an uncle who was a big shot prof at Yale who got accepted at Yale, but he went to Harvard instead.

At a smaller institution like Amherst, an aunt on the faculty may have more meaning than at universities with 20,000 people.

JHU, Wesleyan, Tufts, and WashU are high matches. USC is a match. Pepperdine is a low match.

BTW, Wesleyan does superscore ACT’s and uses SAT II’s.
