Questions:
What do they look at on the SAT? Does the writing part count? Do they just look at the highest of M/V?

What's it like outside the campus? Any big retail stores like Walmart or Target?

You are definitely in to the school, but not neccesarilly the honors program. The walmart is in Willimantic (kinda ghetto-ish, but an alright town) and the school offers a bus to Walmart deemed the "Willy Bus"

i had the top 5% too, but not the 1400's either. honors at uconn is much more competitive than you may think...in fact, i heard the average SAT out of 1600 was between 1370-1430, but that may be incorrect. check their website.

I can verify rriello5's statistic...I am in the honors program and most people I know had an SAT score in the mid 1400s out of 1600. Its not entirely score based, however. If you are a minority with a score in the 1300s or are an astounding leader/have a great EC, you will probably get in. Many students in the honors program turned down competetive LACs or Ivys to go the Uconn for financial reasons.
