Hi guys! I recently visited Lehigh and immediately fell in love with its campus and academics. Hopefully someone can give me an idea of what I can improve on my resume as well as my chances--I need a pretty hefty scholarship or grant or w/e considering my parents arent really willing to pay much. Thanks!

my son was accepted to engineering school and had simlar stats, very important to visit sevral times and write a good essay do not skimp on the essay they really are important good luck

Lehigh gives most of its financial aid in need based aid and doesn't give out a lot of merit aid.

My daughter was accepted with comparable SATs. She had a higher class rank in a college prep high school. She earned her IB diploma and also took AP classes. She played varsity sports and had a leadership position in her club.

Merit money received: $0.

The year that she applied was the first year of the writing section, so merit money was based on SAT M+R. You weren't considered for merit money unless Math + Reading > 1400. I got that answer directly from her admissions counselor. I can't say how the Writing section fits into the merit equation now. That didn't guarantee merit money, just consideration for merit money.

For the Class of 2011: 40% were ED and 18% were legacy. Doesn't seem to leave a lot of room for the RD applicants, does it?

So get your SATs above that threshold. And Lehigh is very big on demonstrated interest: any kind of visit where you register with the Admissions Office. If you are planning on majoring in one of the engineering majors, you might have an edge because women are underrepresented.

note: Lehigh does not consider the writing section of the SAT.

suggestions: retake the SAT or ACT. however, your score is probably good enough for admission. apply ED (if you really do love it). do well senior year. write a very good essay. possibly get an interview and maybe visit again.

if you do all of that successfully i think you would almost be a shoe in and you would have a possible shot at merit aid. although if you do receive aid i wouldn't expect it to be "hefty". good luck.

I think your chances are pretty decent...show interest! very very important. If they don't think you will attend, they will waitlist you. I didn't show much interest and I got waitlisted at Lehigh but got into Cornell, Haverford, Colgate, Vassar, and Hamilton...weird.

I retook the SATs in October and now have a superscored 2100/ 1390
730M/660CR/710W
Is there anything else I can do to increase my chances? I know Lehigh only uses M and CR SAT scores, should I take the SAT's again to get over 1400?
I plan to apply ED1.

Isn't the ED deadline Nov. 1? So i don't know if you'll be able to take it again.... anyways I think you'll get in. The only thing you can do to increase your chances is to do well in school and SHOW INTEREST i.e. visit again, schedule an interview, send the admissions office questions. i think you're good though. good luck!
