Overall, I feel like I'm VERY borderline...

If you want to work in journalism you need to show that it's a passion for yourself. Join the student newspaper. Intern part-time at your local town newspaper. Find journalism contests online or anything else that can show that you're good at writing, and participate. Put yourself on the line a whole lot - you've only got 6 months to make an impact.

Thanks, I most definitely will. I've won several short fiction and poetry contests and I recently got an offer to write an article for a magazine around a big natioal convention (15,000+ people attending) and I'm always looking for new opportunities.

Does Columbia give a major in journalism for undergrads?
