What are my chances? I applied about a month ago and signed up for the summer session. How long should it take to hear back? I'm freaking out!

I think it depends on the program you apply on or something.
Whenever your application status changes to “a decision will be posted here in the coming days” (mine just changed on Friday), you should be getting a decision in like four days after that.

Judging on past years, I think most people hear back December or January.

@afrojack when did you apply?

FYI - there doesn’t seem to be any relation to how early you apply and how soon you get an answer from Penn State. Based on last year when my D applied, very strong students hear back quickly, very poor students hear back fairly quick, and then students that are in-between get more review time. Just because you see someone say they got an answer after 2 or 3 weeks doesn’t matter. Last year there was someone who heard back about 10 days after he got all his stuff submitted in early November. My D was dying since she had her stuff in by late September and hadn’t heard anything. She finally got her “yes” in early December. As long as you get your application in by Nov. 30th you will hear back by Jan 31st. The different colleges seem to send out acceptances at different times, too. Try to be patient - I know it’s hard, I remember very clearly my D checking her status about every 2 hours last year.

Good Luck to all!
