Chances at 10 different schools?

I was just curious to see if someone out there could give me some kind of idea on what schools I applied to are actually realistic for me. My counselor only tells me positives about my chances and I think I need a bit more honesty, haha. Thank you in advance!

And, yes, I have applied for financial aid.
I hope that covers just about everything.
The schools I applied to are: Bryant, Bryn Mawr, Colgate, Lafayette, TCNJ, Northeastern, RPI, Skidmore, Smith, WPI
(I have already been accepted to one college - Simmons College - so I can always fall back on that, haha. Thanks again for taking the time!)

What major? I would think Bryant & TCNJ would be likely.

@mccurk I intend to major in mathematics.

All are matches except Colgate and Northeastern given 31 ACT is bottom 25% for those two. That said, need based aid may impact acceptances as all are need sensitive.

@Chembiodad Yeah, I know Colgate and Northeastern are probably not happening, but I decided to just give it a shot. It won’t break my heart to get rejected by them. Thank you for the input!

Your RIC is very good. Don’t judge your abilities by the ACT score.

Do you want to continue French with your math major? You can minor in German, Mandarin or Spanish at WPI, but not French. Check out the X-country team http://athletics.wpi.edu/sports/xc/2017-18/roster-women.

There are many different math directions you can go. Data mining is one example of math applications today. It has been used to identify survival rates from pancreatic cancer. Big Data is in the CS department. See https://www.wpi.edu/academics/departments/computer-science/major-project. The head of Data Sciences is fluent in German (see https://www.wpi.edu/people/faculty/rundenst)

Mathematics department concentrations are in Mathematical sciences and Actuarial Mathematics.
Some Math Major Qualifying Project (MQP) examples can be viewed @ https://www.wpi.edu/academics/departments/mathematical-sciences/major-project).

Admissions is a tricky process, but WPI is still working toward a 50/50 student distribution and you can do the work anywhere if you really want to. I ran x-country there and I know this.

Would you like to try acting?

:bz

@retiredfarmer
I’m unsure if I will continue with French, but I wouldn’t mind a class or two to stay fresh.

And thank you for all of the information on WPI! I am not as acquainted with this school as I am with others, so I will definitely be checking all of this out. It’s about time I research it a bit more closely.

Acting isn’t a big part of my future - just a little side thing I did for four years as a fun extracurricular.
