My essay skills are pretty solid and I’ve gotten 3 banger letters of recommendation ready. I’m half white, half asian; I look white as all hell but I have a super asian name. I’m only mentioning this because I know race unfortunately may affect admissions so ya. and im a dude so theres that
Prospective College is CNS for Human Biology, Alternate being Liberal Arts for Psychology, or just going in undeclared into UGS
Just give it to me straight boys, how doomed am I? And is there anything I can do to increase my chances of admission if they’re low?
Oh yeah and I live in Texas as well forgot to mention I think
Hello. I had very similar stats when applying to UT (you can check my recent post to see my resume and such). I applied to UGS and was denied. If i were you I would retake the ACT and take AP classes your senior year to get your rank up. I had a 30 on my ACT and was probably top 20% (very competitive high school). I think that is what caused me to be denied. Also if your sole goal is to just get in I would apply to a major that your resume and essays support. For example, I had a lot of experience with children so I should’ve applied to education. I even spoke to a education admissions reviewer and he said I would have had a very very good chance at getting into his program if I had applied to it. They admit you based on two scores: academic and achievement. Academic is rank and ACT/SAT. Achievement is leadership, hardships, applicability to your major, etc. Your essays are super, super important since UT is so holistic. I actually wrote my friends essays and she got into UT. So if you need help with those I’d be happy to help. Also apply as soon as you can, it betters your chance to hear back earlier and it may be easier to get in (since the x amount of spots in a major aren’t filled). Lastly, they really don’t consider your second major so choose wisely. Best of luck!
