UT Austin - Chance Me!

Hi. I really want to get into UT Austin. Just got my class rank after first semester of junior year and not in the top 7% so automatic admission is not likely for me. Let's get to it.

Class Rank: 52 out of 598 (top 9%)

GPA: 3.9 out of 4.0 (4.5 out of 4.5 weighted)

SAT 1:
Reading: 690
Math: 770
Writing: 740

2200 of 2400
1460 of 1600

PSAT: 225
**Obviously hoping to make national merit, but won't know for sure for a while.

APs:
Human Geo: 5
World Hist: 5
Computer Sci: 4
Spanish Lang: Not yet
US History: Not yet
English Lang: Not yet

Extracurricular

President of Model UN
President of BPA and national finalist in competition
Captain of Software Engineering Team
Band; 4 years, 3 years as first chair
Piano; 1st in some contests

Honor Societies (NHS, NSHS, NMHS, NAHS, NEHS)

Independent Study Mentorship:
2 years of independent study in computer science
1 semester independent study in russian piano music
1 semester independent study in labor relations/unionization

The reason I'm really unsure is because I've heard it's really hard for those who aren't automatic admission (top 7% for High School class of 2014). Thinking about retaking SAT 1. Thanks for chancing me!

Meh you’re fine

You got as good as shot as any at UT. Take the SAT again and shoot for 2250, which I think will put your in the rarefied air of 1%. Also take a flyer at an Ivy league school. Mainly because the need based aid is so much better. (assuming you need it and who doesn’t). I mention this because with your musicality you EC’s popped. Ivy’s love the artsy thing.
