*Ranked number 34 out of 245.

So what do you think? Criticism welcome.

Schools:
Bucknell University
LeHigh University
Carnegie Mellon
Georgetown
University of Virginia

Anyone please?????

You need to get your ranking higher. Your ACT score is awesome, as you know. Your ECs are darn good. I think you've made the most of your experience at your HS. But 34 out of 245 isn't even top 10%.

What's your weighted GPA? I don't know about the others, but I'm pretty sure UVA will take you if that's above a 4.2 or so.

With ACT of 35 and your list of EC class rank is not of huge importance - you can get basically anywhere you want. All the schools on your list are safeties. Only HYPS, MIT and Caltech would be reaches. Most of lower ivies would be "almost" a sure bet. Cut down your EC list to leave only most important items and do more research on where you want to go.

What is your intended major ?

I agree Bucknell should be fine esp if you can raise your class rank.

btw it's Lehigh, not LeHigh (I'm an alum).

Apply ED to Bucknell, start pursuing them now, establish a relatonship with your regional rep, and you are in!

I disagree completely with datadriven. Even with a 35 on the ACT, a class rank of only 34 out of 245 in a school that you yourself call one of the worst in Kentucky wont help at all. Colleges arent just going to accept you just because of the 35. That being said, I think Georgetown and, bc your out of state, Virginia will be reaches unless you get that class rank up. They both like their students to be top 5%, and at the very least top 10% (and thats from competative high schools) of their class. Bucknell and Lehigh are probably targets, with Carnegie Mellon being a only a slight reach. You really should have a safety school though, bc none of those are a sure bet. You do have very good EC's though, which should help. Thats just my own opinion, take it for what its worth.

Work on that class rank and you have a great shot at Bucknell. I know they like diversity, so Kentucky might help, even if your school is crappy. It looks like you took some tough classes, you're ACT score is amazing, and you have some nice EC's. If you can afford it, apply ED to Bucknell, I regret not doing that(i wont know till march if i got in), and you have even more of a chance.
best of luck :)
