Chances at Emory, Wake, Vanderbilt, & Georgetown

I am aware that these are reaches, but I am focused. I will be applying ED to Emory. I am currently a senior. I have a talked and spoken to the music chairman at Emory about my situation and played for them in person when doing a campus visit. I understand that Emory loves applicants who show intrest so I have shown as much as possible(campus visit, focus session, consulted faculty member, internet, Video Visit, Mailing list, etc...) I will hopefully be recruited b/c of my talent in music. I am planning to double-major in Philisophy + Music so I'll be eligbe for music scholarships at Emory.

SAT/ACT: How LOW are we talking?

I have just registered for the SAT b/c my high school only advances the ACT as an assesment test really. It's really weird and it only has one honors class which I've taken + 0 AP courses, so it's not great.

On the other hand, my ACT is so low that I really do not want to say it on the boards. sigh

ok then....if you don't want to say it then I'd assume it must be pretty low. So, as a result, your chances will be really low.

If I were part of the college admission system, I wouldn't weigh the SAT or ACT as much as the real colleges do, but that is just the way it is.

So standardized test scores break your chances of being admitted even though they claim that everything is looked at?

Chances are low if test scores are REALLy that low. I suggest doing a lot of practice tests and maybe enrolling in a prep cource to help you bring your tests scores up.

ok I got your PM. ***? ok, that score is low par se, but nothing to be ashamed about. Ok, so focus your but off on the ACT or SAT and worke extremely hard on them and take them (or it).

There was a person who had a 132 on his PSAT and eventually ended up getting a 2380. So don't despair.

Alright, I'll try. Any other comments?

I agree with sr6622, but the fact that you have the support of the band administrator is a plus and will help you.

Alright, what are my chances as of now? Like give me a percentage please. I appreciate all of these comments. It's not like you are others who try to intentionally cut down your confidence. You both just basically guided me in how I can make myself more competitve as an applicant!

Honeslty I cant help you that much, as I am also applying to Emory and have doubts of my acceptance.

I have a quick question? You have said that you are a super music guy, but I was wondering where all the other usual musical accoladers are? LIke the ALL-region Band and ALL-State band, or the countyr band....Also, all the different music festivals that occur and the different music competitions, have you done well in any of these state/national things?

Well, my school is unexposed to extracurricular things like that, but I will be trying out for all-state this year. That is all that I know of that goes soemthing with what you're talking about.
