Chances at Engineering colleges?

I've decided to major in chemical or aerospace engineering, and I need some suggestions for colleges please?

I doubt I'd get accepted into many colleges because even though what I did my last 2 years was good, my first 2 were unacceptable according to some college's standards. Here, take a look please:

GPA's are listed after each year, weighted, on a 4.0 scale.
Freshman year- No advanced classes-2.4
Sophomore year- No advanced classes-3.5
Junior year- Honors Alg II-3.9
Senior year- Honors PreCalc, Honors Spanish III, AP Chemistry, AP Advanced Physics, AP Biology, AP Literature-5.0
Cumulative-3.7
Top 20% of class

EC's
Freshman year- None
Sophomore year- None
Junior year- Tennis, summer job, community service
Senior year- Tennis, Soccer, summer job, community service
Total-450 Hours community service

Tests
ACT-29
SAT- 1410
SAT II's:
Chemistry-740
Physics-730
Biology-700
Literature-700
Recieved 5's on all AP's

Essay is pretty decent, though probably just as good as the average top applicant.
Good recommendations also.

Wether I go to a private, or public college, will I even be noticed among other top applicants? My parents stressed on me going to a private school, but I didn't think I could make it.. am I right or wrong?

humm your gpa is a little low, if your in california try cal poly sab louis obisbo

I'm in St. Louis, MO.

In my honest opinion, I'd advise ED II at Washington University in St. Louis ... especially since you live there. Your testing is strong, and so are your junior and senior years. Rising grade trend with strong testing (How many AP's do you have, all 5's is quite impressive) should help you a lot.

Joey

I have 4 AP's.

I had a typo, my ACT was a 27..
Basically what I want to know, am I screwed for a chance at state colleges, or ones like WUMSTL? I feel like I'm screwed for life... several people told me that I won't get accepted into many colleges because I don't stand out apart from others.. is it true? OR do I have some chance anywhere?
