Much obliged to anyone reading this! If anyone could respond as to whether I stand a shot at Exeter (or could recommend other schools that may be more a match) I would appreciate it!

This thread was moved as I had it in an incorrect spot earlier

Exeter has stated that they care more about the math SSAT score than the Verbal and Reading, so that could be weak for them, but if you feel like taking the test over again I am sure you could. However, there are many cases in which they accept that, and it shouldn't hinder you if everything else is fine (as I can see, you show good leadership skills; you are head of your class, etc.)

Very interesting Olivia! True... the math section on the PSAT was rather discouraging. Also, I was planning on applying to one or more schools this current year. (Applying as a Junior for attendance my senior year) Therefore, taking an SAT before the January deadline would be rather unlikely. Ah well, if I should aim my sights a bit lower, I would appreciate some recommendations of other schools.
Thanks!

I have heard of kids who got into good schools with scores such as a 99 on one section and a 70-80s in the other, so you could still do it. If you're looking at top-tier schools, then you should apply to a school which could cater to your strengths. Andover is the complement of Exeter; it is known to be stronger in the writing department, but can still give you what you need in Math. Other schools include Choate, Hotchkiss, Deerfield, and Groton, which are all great. Milton is 1/2 day, 1/2 boarding so that is a small gap. You would probably want slightly differentiating numbers - like a 75-25 percentage.

I'm applying to Choate and Andover - possibly another. Choate is my favorite.

What you should be looking for in a school that will make you feel like you can't believe your luck. Choate has what I want - good acting courses (best art department, if you're looking for that) and a rigorous academic courseload, just not that of a grind school. When I was walking around the campus, I had the best feeling about it. I absolutely fell in love with it.

My first resource was boardingschoolreview.com, which can sometimes be a little off on hard facts about the schools, but has Student Reviews from kids who had gone to that school and graduated (and are now in college or after). They are so useful and the format is standardized for all the schools, so you can see how the kids' answers change. It covers everything you want to know - dorm life, academics, food, campus, and views on extracurriculars

Sorry, I didn't mean the BEST; I'm sure there are schools made just for that, but most kids looking at top-tier schools say that Choate has the best arts department/musicals, etc., and more arts courses, such as acting, which I noticed.

Why don't you consider Interlochen? It's pretyt much known as one of the best pre-profressional arts schools in the world. Plus, it's in one of the best cities in Michigan: Traverse City.

Thanks Jonathan! I appreciate the comments, but it appears that Olivia has the right idea. You see, the arts are of exceptional importance to me, and they are the first thing that I am searching for in a boarding school. However, I do look for a top-tier school with strong academics as well as athletics. From what I have seen in the last 20 minutes, Choate does look like a great option, perhaps even better suited to me than Exeter. All the better if they don't put as much emphasis on the math portion of the PSAT. :)
Thanks for the opinions guys, they're really helping my decision, and I will continue my search!

As your math and reading scores total 1220, I would like at schools where that is the average, or above average, SAT score of grads. Boarding School Review has those numbers. Good luck!

That's great, Euphonium (what do you want me to call you? :)). Choate is a good option, if you're interested in the arts. I'm applying there too. :D
