Chances at FYC?

Weighted GPA: 2.4
Unweighted GPA: 1.9

SAT Scores: 1580, but will retake and I have done lots of prep.
ACT: 21

I did dance and Key Club as extracurricular's.

I took AP classes and Honors, I'm getting good grades senior year and by the end of first semester I will have a 2.6 ish.

I know it's a long shot but I want to try. What do you guys think?

Honestly, I see people with much better stats that don’t get into state. If you can somehow get the gpa above a 3.0 by the end of the year, you may have a chance. You’ll probably be deferred.

I would apply to other schools around the state. UNC-G UNC-C ECU. Or if you really want to go to state, go to Wake Tech for 2 years and then transfer. Its a lot easier that way and much much cheaper. Don’t listen to anyone that tells you Wake Tech is for dumb people. I got my associates degree from there and they make you really work hard for it. They really prepare you for a University. I’m at UNC-Charlotte now and its so easy. I really don’t know how some people fail and drop out. So yeah Wake Tech is the real deal they offer all the basic classes that most universities offer and many advanced courses that transfer to most public universities in the state.

Good Luck.

Daughter applied and has great GPA, EC’s, Recommendation, essay etc. but her ACT/SAT scores were horrible. 23 ACT and 1510 SAT…but she has a 4.2 GPA and top 15% of a class of 500. Wants to go for Animal Science and has taken all Honors (even Animal Science honors classes) as well as AP classes. She is an officer in the state FFA group, works at a Vet hospital and has a ton of community involvement. Is she completely out of the running? Will they overlook her low test scores? I am looking for someone with similar scores to let me know if they got in! Thanks!!
