Chances at G-Town, UMCP, others

SCORES

GPA- 2.9 unweighted, 3.65 weighted (ugh...I can't believe how awful I did 9th-10th grade due to laziness)
SAT I- 2370 (Math 780, Verbal 790, Writing 800)
SAT II World History- 800
SAT II Math- 740

COURSE LOAD

I have had pretty much the most demanding course load imaginable and will have taken 11 AP courses by the end of high school.

I have taken only 1 regular class all of high school: Precalculus.

Have taken AP NSL Gov't (10), AP World History (11), AP Macroeconomics and Microeconomics (11), AP English Language (11), AP French Language (11). Have taken the NSL AP exam and got a 4; the rest I will take in May.

Senior year I will be taking AP Human Geography, AP European History, AP Calculus AB, AP French Language, and AP English Language, in addition to this thing called "College Institute" that we have at our school.

Also, I am a member of our school's renowned Humanities Program and am near completion of a difficult independent research project.

EXTRACURRICULARS

In school:

Political Forum- likely to be president next year
Junior State of America- have attended Convention twice and will attend again
It's Academic- Vice President and A Team captain for next year
Community Service- 220 hrs

Out of school:

Language- I know 4 languages, English (totally fluent), Russian (totally fluent- go to a Russian teacher weekly to learn Russian literature and history), French (nearly fluent- have taken it for 5 years), and German (nearly fluent- going to Berlin this summer to complete a study abroad language program).

Piano- I am an adept piano player and have placed 2nd, 3rd, and 4th in three competitions.

...among others.

--

Due to my low GPA as seen above, I am extremely worried about getting into college--not Ivy League, but perhaps just any college.

THUS, WHAT ARE MY CHANCES AT:

Georgetown University (yeah, I know I might as well try to land on the moon...but who knows)

University of Chicago (see commentary for above and multiply by 2)

Boston College

George Washington University

American University

University of Maryland- College Park (keep in mind I am IN STATE--will probably end up going here...if I get in...)

University of Maryland- Baltimore County (again, IN STATE)

St. Mary's College of Maryland (yet again, IN STATE)

--

Feel free to leave any helpful commentary, and suggest other schools (I need some safety schools...). Thank you very much!

Did I mention... my high school is one of the 2 most competitive in the county and among the top 50 in the entire country.

Are you in MOCO? Your chance at UMDCP looks good (although the school sucks).

GW is probably a reach for you, with Georgetown being a very hard reach. Your GPA is something of definite concern.

AU is a match, and UMDCP seems to be a matchish-reach.

dood...did u show an upward trend from fresh-junior? if u did, Georgetown would be just a reach. everything else looks fine

The private schools in DC are going to be a problem, unfortunately. I'm from Maryland as well and really hoped for Georgetown, but living in Maryland doesn't really contribute to their diversity..If you're willing to venture out of the area, there are plenty of other good schools that would be better than Maryland (though certainly more expensive).

Even with the upward trend, it's really difficult to get in Gerogetown. Unless you have a major hook, of course. If you're applying to the FLL, the languages may be a plus.

you might be able to get into AU (that's where i go) or maybe GWU..

Georgetown is probably out, but you can apply anyway if you really want to (I applied even though I knew I didn't have a chance, just in case)
