Chances at George Mason or University of Massachusetts-Amherst

Hi,
I was wondering if anybody could give me an idea at my chances at George Mason or University of Massachusetts-Amherst. I am a current high school senior.
My stats:
3.4 unweighted GPA
ACT: 23 (low which is why I am nervous)
Extracurriculars:
coding competition
robotics club
cyber- security club
App making club

Took a college level course over the summer

I went through a health condition over my high school career, so I explained that in my essay and my health did affect my daily routines. (just thought I should mention)

I was on the honor roll Grades 9-11

I’m applying to UMass Amherst too and I have the same UW GPA as you (3.65 out of 4.5 weighted). I’ve been told it’s a safety for me, but I did get a 2100 on my SATs. Even though your ACT isn’t great I think you’re still in decent shape

Thanks. I hope I get into a decent school. My ACT score changed to 24 now, which is still low :frowning:

sorry bud but your gpa and act are way too low and you dont have a sport or anything to make up for it…no chance for UMass, George Mason is also a pretty big reach. I would recommend james madison, lower standards but very similar to george mason. good luck!

amherst is the most selective of the umasses, but you seem to have an activity list that is towards computer science. If you declare your major to be something related to computer science it will definitely boost your chances. Good luck

I think you really need to bring your ACT up or take the SAT to see if you could do better. Your GPA is a little low and not the worst. Your ECs seem solid enough as long as some of them show some sort of commitment(Being a part of them more than 1-2 years).

@stapleton97 I’m the same person who wrote the original post but created another account because I forgot my login info. Just wanted to let you know that I got into both schools with scholarships. I got 8,000 from umass amherst and 4,000 from GMU

My (new) sat score is a 1320 and my gpa is a 3.9-4.0 I take several honors and AP level course (but not all) and I do extracurriculars like History Honor Society and Blood Drive Team. What are my chances in getting into umass amherst
