Supplemental - One from my Amnesty International Advisor who was also my freshman Humanities Teacher (should be awesome)

Sports-

- providing these kids with opportunities they wouldn't normally get
- direct a play with these kids as actors for the community

Honors, Recognitions, Awards, Programs (Kinda weak right now):

Won a prestigious full ride scholarship award to my college prep high school
(5 out of 500 kids are chosen every year)

Won Miss Teen US-Singapore (will compete in national competition later this year)

Congressional Award for my community service efforts (Amnesty International, Project Ignition, Heart House)

National Commended Scholar (probably)

Four Gold A's ( 3.7 GPA or higher)

Blue Key Society and Candidate for Cum Laude

Therefore, you can see I have a really strong passion in International Relations and the theatrical arts and have really strong ECs. I can speak and write very well so should do great on the interviews and essays. However, I am worried about my SAT scores and my junior year grades. I didn't choose my classes well and took the hardest math and science class offered. Like I mentioned, I had a 3.5 one semester, and a 4.0 now, averaging out to a 3.75. Freshman and Sophomore year were great, with averages around a 3.93.

Anyway, please let me know what you think my chances are getting into the above schools listed. Thank you so much!

Reaches:
Dartmouth
Yale
Cornell

Matches:
Georgetown
Pomona
Columbia
NYU
Carnegie

Saftey:
U. of Miami, Florida.

I don't know about Vanderbilt...

thannks so much!

any other opinions?

I agree, although I think Cornell is a match for you as much as an ivy can be a match for anyone. Nice stats and nice EC's!

aww thanks! It's a great relief to hear that I have a chance at these schools....didn't think I stood a chance after that horrible semester

anyone else have a thought?

may i get some more people's opinions please?

You have decent chances for all, except Yale.

Georgetown University-High Match; about the same as Vanderbilt, so long as you're not applying SFS, in which case it jumps to a reach, because (I've heard) SFS is really, really selective.

Dartmouth University-Don't know much about it. Probably same as Cornell; low reach, but as close to a match as Ivys get. (But I REALLY haven't studied Dartmouth or Cornell)

Vanderbilt University-High Match. Great school, but you're a great student. I'd say 50-65% chance.

Cornell University-Don't know much about it. Probably a low reach, but as close to a match as an Ivy gets.

Pomona College-Don't know much; blind guess it's a match, based on my VERY loose understanding of its selectivity.

Columbia University-Just about a match. Ivys aren't REALLY matches for anybody, but you're definitely towards the top of the applicant pool. Don't forget to ace their version of the Why Columbia essay.

Yale University-Reach for everybody. Your ECs definitely stand out, you have a pretty strong GPA, and your SATs are firmly in the middle 50% for even Yale. That's about all I can tell you. My personal 2 cents opinion: Your GPA going down Junior year might raise red flags; do your best to prove however you can that increased academic stress won't kill you. I remember my Yale information guy said that the school is looking for people that can handle the workload without having to spend 24hrs a day in the library. Try to prove you're that kind of person.

New York University-Very good chance, although it's another school with a strong acting culture that I don't think will let you double major or major\minor between performance and another subject.

Carnegie Mellon-Match, although just fyi, you won't be able to minor in acting at CMU, even if you do get into the program.

University of Miama Florida-Don't know about it; statistically its a low match, but with your amazing ECs it might become an easy admit.
