Also, the admission rate for UMich has dropped to 37% since last year. Also the percentage of OOS students has increased (over 42% last year). OP really needs to keep up with current information and the reality.

Pretty sure this is a ■■■■■ lol.

Unless you have a legacy that’s donated a lot of money, there’s no reason to be confident that you’ll get accepted into any of those schools.

In his own way this guy is kinda hilarious. Pretty funny when you read all his posts in a comedic context. I’d agree that he overestimates his chances, but just because he’s shown a fairly arrogant personality doesn’t mean that some sort of karma will strike him down.

There is always a decent chance for a salutatorian at HYPS, nonetheless many vals and sals get rejected. I’d say that he fits the profile perfectly for that type of top student that doesn’t get in due to lack of ECs, achievements, or unique qualities/hooks. Plus most schools won’t superscore the ACT (I think Harvard might?) but I’m pretty sure that YPS and the vast majority of others won’t.

I’ll try and give advice though and hopefully you’re not a ■■■■■. Try and raise that ACT to a single sitting 34+ if you can manage. Have you tried the SAT? I definitely think you should consider trying to take that or retake it at least once. They’re fairly different and you may be pleasantly surprised.

For ECs you should definitely continue with varsity tennis. As for the tutoring, 20 hours is not going to cut it. You really need to consider minimum 100+ hours if you want it to have at least a bit of impact at top schools. The trip to work with medical patients sounds promising, but I’m not sure exactly what that involves. You’re obviously privileged and have access to all sorts of opportunities so lack of ECs really can’t be excused. Unhooked people that get into HYPS do so through both stellar academic records AND dedicated/interesting ECs.

It sounds like you’re positive on the teacher recs and I’m not going to try to influence you on your essays. Hope it works out. Good luck!

Yor academics are similar to mostly every other applicant to hypsm. Your ecs are terrible and so you are at a disadvantage. You do seem to be arrogant and some colleges will look at this arrogance in combination with your Socioeconomic status and will immediately turned off. Please tone it down. You chances are not 15-30%. You are at a disadvantage because of your ECs and your chances are around 5-10%. I do believe you should apply because even you have a chance even though it is not great. Good luck.

Even 5-10% is a huge overestimate. 5-10% would be a relatively decent chance.

rich with no hooks and arrogant…tsk tsk

hello all, truth time. I am a senior not a junior, posting about my last year’s stats and results. The only difference between me and the stats I originally posted is that I am a female, not male. I was accepted into Harvard University class of 2017, Duke University, and University of Michigan. Also, I had my older brother reply with some witty, arrogant comments to act as a ■■■■■. It worked. The responses changed based on my attitude and many more CC’ers began to doubt me because of my behavior. My own little psychology experiment worked. Good Luck to all applicants! Don’t let others convince you not to apply!

Ill be the first to offer my congratulations on your accomplishment, and, as i know this type of thing has happened before, i wont doubt that you are telling the truth. The main issue i had with you was your attitude, so if an Ivy League saw fitting to accept you, then power to you, you must be a great young woman with a great future! Good luck!
