Chances at HYPSM, Penn, NYU, etc.

Hi everyone, I'm new here, and I was hoping you guys could give me my chances at HYPSM, some matches, and some safeties, and some tips on helping to improve my application. Here are my stats as of right now:

Numbers:
GPA: 3.87 UW (School does not weight, I have taken the hardest courseload including math at the University) Freshman year, i had a 3.7 and I've had roughly a 3.95 ever since then. No excuses for Freshman year, I just wasn't a very motivated kid, and I didn't really like school very much.
Class Rank: Inside Top 10 Percent, outside Top 5 Percent Something like 45/540.
SAT: CR 800/M 800/W 780 (Essay 11) Total: 2380
SAT II's: Math IIC 800, Will take Physics, US History, and Literature in June
AP: World History 5, Calculus BC 5 (AB Subscore 5), Will take APUSH, AP English, and AP Physics in June.

Extracurriculars/Awards:
Captain of Junior High Fed Challenge Team (3rd Place Regional Contest).
Captain of Junior High Knowledge Master Team (9th Grade) 1st Place in State.
Captain of Junior High Quiz Bowl Team (9th Grade).
Varsity Quiz Bowl 10th, 11th Grade.
Varsity Knowledge Master 10th, 11th Grade.
Federal Reserve Essay Contest 2006 2nd Place (11th Grade).

Volunteer at Museum of Art and Anthropology at the University
Volunteer at Senior State Games, Basketball and Track and Field
Volunteer at State Historical Society
Principal's Cabinet in Junior High

Piano for 10 years some little awards.
Violin for 5 years, no awards, in school orchestra.

ARML National High Scorer (Also highest scorer on state team)
USAMO Qualifier
GPML State 1st Place
Captain of Math team

Summer Camps: MathPath 2004, MathCamp 2005, State Governor's School 2006, this summer I think that maybe I'll do research at the local university?

Please chance me at:
HYPSM
NYU Stern
U Penn Wharton (M&T Program)
U Michigan
Berkeley

Harvard and MIT are my top choices, I will apply to MIT EA.

Also, in what ways can I improve my application within the next half year? How bad is my class rank/GPA? Thanks for reading all of this I realize it's alot, so thanks for taking the time :-).

Help anyone?

Oh yeah, and if anyone knows, does EA at MIT increase my chances any?

The biggest gap I see is almost no leadership positions. I also see no interests outside of academics and some music, and no community service.

Add Caltech to your list. I think you should get in there. As for the other schools, you'll get into NYU, Berkeley, and Mich and 2 out of HYPSM and Penn's M&T. Those are my predictions.

He has plenty of leadership positions - they may not count for much, but theyre there. And it seems to me that you're really interested/successful in math related activities - if you keep that up, you'll really boost your chances (I think that qualifies as non-academic related bandit, otherwise you could claim that being a siemens national champion is also academics...)

It is..........Go read all the posts this year in the Harvard board of Intel and Siemens kids that got rejected.

He's captain of three academic teams at his school and member of several other varsity academic teams....how is that not enough leadership? Plus, I'm sure leadership can be demonstrated in many other ways than simply having the title of an officer. What strikes me is that his leadership positions are strengthened by his talent in math-USAMO and MOSP particularly. I think you'll get into one of the HPYSM schools and probably Caltech. EA at MIT increases your chances simply because your application will be considered twice in the admissions cycle. However, from the 2011 and 2010 EA threads, MANY extraordinary applicants were deferred. Btw, is your rank weighted or unweighted?

Do you mean you'll take those AP exams in May, not June?

And did you get your SAT II scores back yet?

For the Class of 2011, 49% admitted were class valedictorians.

since you clearly are proficient in math i would suggest you apply to Caltech as well, EA or RD, whichever you prefer. wow, you went to MathCamp? that's very impressive.

if you love MIT the most, definitely apply EA.
