Do you think I'm wrong in considering IU as a safety? Don't get me wrong, I would be very happy going here - but just wondering where I fall on the acceptance spectrum.

Thank you!

excellent chances, your in if you apply

Are you planning to major in dance? You will need to audition for the modern dance program, which is in the HPER school. It is not as difficult to get into as the ballet program, which is in the School of Music, and requires very serious ballet training.

lakeeffect, I am not planning on majoring in dance. Though I'm having trouble navigating the dance page of IU's site, I would just like to take various classes or minor, if available. If not...oh well, haha

don't even need to make sure ...its a safety.

ElizaB - Yes you can take non-major classes. Ballet classes for non-majors up to advanced level are offered through the Jacobs school of Music, with two levels of jazz as well. I believe many of the non-major ballet classes are taught by majors as they have to have two semesters of pedagogy, although I'm not sure about the upper levels. Contemporary dance, tap, etc. are through the Dept of Kinesiology in the HPER school (if you have been a competitive dancer in contemporary/jazz styles this is probably where you want to look on the web). The Dept of Kinesiology also offers a dance minor.

lakeeffect, I cannot thank you enough! I have been trying to find all of this on the website with no luck. Great information, thanks a ton.
