Chances at Lower Ivies and Top 30 schools?

Hey everyone.
I go to a prestigious private high school in Hawaii.
My GPA is a 3.7 UW. My school doesn't calculate weighted. I believe my rank would be somewhere around 10-15% out of 400ish. School sends a LOT of people to the ivies, idk 25-30?
I have a very rigorous courseload. My GC said that my course load is a 4.5/5 with 5 being the most rigorous courseload possibly taken.
Though my December SAT was pretty bad, I feel pretty confident that my SAT will be around 2200s this time. I checked my answers with the posters on CC's.
I believe that my SAT would be around 2200-2300.
If I were to give an exact number, I would say:
2230. V 760 (3 wrong) M 730 (2 W, 1 O) W 740 (10 essay) (4 MC wrong).
I'm hoping to retake it in October, focusing on the Math, to get a perfect, and superscore it for a 2300.

SAT II Scores:
780 Chemistry (sophomore)
760 Math Level II (junior)
710 Physics (junior) <--- kinda low
690 Biology (junior) <--- kinda low

ACT Scores: coming out soon. I don't think I did as good as I did in the SATs. I rushed in the Reading and Science portions, because I wasn't prepared as I thought I would be.

My plan is to retake the SAT again on October, so that I can bring up my Math score due to careless mistakes. That way my superscore would be 2300 hopefully.
I'll take the SAT II again if I fare well with my SAT, and hopefully bring up my biology and physics scores. I may plan on studying biology and physics over the summer again to bring them up.

This Year I took: Advanced Pre Calculus Honors, English, AP Biology, AP Physics B, US History, Japanese 3
I'll take this next semester: AP Calculus BC, AP Physics C, European History, Computer Science, English.

By the time I graduate, I will have taken 5 AP courses: AP Chemistry, AP Biology, AP Physics B + C, and AP Calculus BC. (Our GC advise us not to take more than 2 APs each year, though some geniuses take more than that.)

ECs:
Class Senate for 2 Years
Model United Nations for 3 years - Club Ambassador for 1 year and Secretary for another year.
JV Bowling Team for 2 Years
Vars Bowling Team for 1 Year.
Varsity Math Team for 3 years. Placed 3rd in the state?

Key Club Service Committee Member 1 year
Carnival Booth Chair 1 Summer 100 hours <-- volunteering
Luke Leader 50 hours <-- volunteering
Japanese Club for 2 years.
Founded Taiwanese Club and was President for freshman year (Lol, but then disbanded after 2 weeks! I really don't know if I should put this on my college app. please give me some of your suggestions)
National Honors Society
National Piano Guilds District Member for 2 Years. (You play 5 piano pieces and musical chords, scales, arpeggio, cadences, etc. in certain keys, and have to get a certain amount of points.)
Volunteer at the Honolulu Festival

If this helps, I visited the campuses and displayed interest in Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Columbia, CMU, Tufts, RISD, Franklin Olin College of Engineering.
At a convention, I displayed interest in USC, Northeastern, Creighton, Villanova, UHManoa.

I haven't clearly decided what I want to do, but my interest right now is in Biomedical Engineering or anything similar. I think I may want to apply to Med School afterwards, further my Grad School studies, or get an MBA.

What are my chances in
Cornell CoE
Brown
Columbia
Dartmouth
Franklin Olin College of Engineering
Tufts
USC Viterbi
JHU BME/non-BME
Creighton
Rice
Emory
GeorgiaTech (good biomedical program)
WUSTL
Pomona
Harvey Mudd
Boston College
Boston U (good biomedical program)
University of Hawaii-Manoa
Carnegie Mellon SCS/ECE/MCS/CAS?
Santa Clara University (good merit aid)

Thanks.

Ok, your SAT scores are awesome! You need to boost your gpa a bit, at least make it a 3.8, but I wouldn’t worry too much about that since your sat score is great!

Also you are in a lot of EC activity but they don’t really give a clear indication as to what you’d like to major in or do in college or even as a career. I’d say focus on what you love the most because colleges like to see a student excell in one or two activities rather than be in a million clubs.

You’re a competive student, and I think you have an adequate shot at all these schools, but you need to show uniquess in your essay, or at least posses a quality that your desired colleges are looking for; you have to remember, a lot of kids have your stats, and they always get rejected. You must show uniqueness!

I wish you the best of luck at the Ivy leagues!

I wish I could bump my GPA up to a 3.8 but I am a rising senior, and by the time I apply it would be too late.

eh, don’t worry. You’ll be fine with the rest of your app!

Thanks so much I feel less anxious! (:

bump 10 char…
I would like to hear more feedback and I will chance back 100%.

Your SAT I isn’t bad, but I’d retake subject tests since a lot of people get 800 in IIC. Retry physics and bio. I didn’t study much but used a Kaplan for math! I thought it was pretty true to the real test.
As for your ECs, maybe try to get an internship researching this summer? All of my friends are doing research at universities (I’m not a science/math major so I’m doing something different), so maybe give a go at that to stay competitive? You have a lot of quantity but not so much depth. Focus more on one or two activities and do something spectacular. Best of luck to you!! =) I think you have a chance at all of these schools. The Ivies will be reaches, but it’s like that for everyone!

Chance back please? =) http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1164754-chance-columbia-upenn-uchicago.html

I think you are a great applicant
You certainly have what it takes
If you’re going to major in biomedical engineering then errand that sat 2 in bio and bring it up

Other than that you have a decent shot

Do you have any suggestions where I can research?

hmm let’s see
Cornell CoE: accepted (of course with ur “excellent” SAT score)
Brown-accepted (‘’)
UH Manoa- High reach…don’t even try to apply, it’s a waste of your time

■■■■■ 10 char.

I was just wondering, but I think I know which school you go to. If it’s the one i’m thinking about, you should try join as many clubs as you can to increase your chances

Do you go to the Iolani School? EDIT: clearly not, since the above poster has indicated.

Anyway, I think you have pretty good chances. Could you update this thread when you get your SAT results in a few days?

Iolani, what college are you going to?

i think you have pretty good chances, but u should raise ur gpa / rank!

i took out the colleges idk much about…

Cornell CoE - match / high match
Brown - reach
Columbia - low reach / reach
Dartmouth - reach
USC Viterbi - match
JHU BME/non-BME - high match / match
Rice - high match
Emory - match
Pomona - match / low reach
Boston College - match
Boston U (good biomedical program) - low reach
Carnegie Mellon SCS/ECE/MCS/CAS? - low reach
Santa Clara University - match

BUMP 10char

Thanks secondarrow2.

A low SAT in the 1700s.

bump 10 char

I cross checked my answers with the one on CC.
