Chances at MIT transfer..?

Before I start this, I understand that MIT transfer is very tough but I was just looking for some input as to what I can do to better shape my app.

This fall, I will be a sophomore at Case Western. I am currently majoring in Biomedical Engineering.

GPA: 3.59 - Made some mistakes first semester but picked it up second semester. I can probably increase my GPA to a 3.8 this coming year.

Last year, I held a job at the library and was involved in a community outreach program where I tutored underpriveleged children in Cleveland. I am also involved in BME society. I also just completed a summer internship at a small agricultural biomedical firm based in the UK where I worked in an R&D team to help develop and test new formulations of our product which are now in field testing.

My HS Sats were 1420 and I had a 3.6 there. I was very involved in high school, held multiple leadership roles and interned at a radio station for 3 years. Keep in mind, MIT did reject me when I tried out of high school.

MIT has been my dream school since I've been very young and Im planning only on applying there for transfer. If anyone can give some advice, from resume to applying to essay writing, that would be excellent.

sorry to break it to ya buddy, but MIT's transfer admission is slim to none. there are tons of other schools you can apply to that fit your major, MIT is an excellent school but its pretty much impossible to get in to

anything less than 4.0 is probably no chance, sorry

MIT = 4.8% (accepted 11 students)

Caltech = 2.2% (accepted 3 students)

both of them are seemingly impossible to get into

dont give up now, because there is a slim chanse at transfers doesnt mean you cant try as a graduate. i know if you work your butt off you can get into MIT where it counts, grad schools. thats what matters really, is what grad school you go to.

why not transfer to penn/cornell/brown/u chicago/ johns hopkins / duke university? Far more realistic and just as good. They all have amazing biomedical programs.

I wanted to go to school in boston and like I said, it's the school I've wanted to go to since I was a child.

Also, I feel like many of the schools you mentioned would be more of a lateral move than a step up.

just bc u've always wanted to go there, doesn't mean it was meant to happen.....

move on (sorry to be straight up about it)

MIT is very unreasonable to transfer into. I'm just trying to help you expand your horizon. Step up? So you're telling me going to Hopkins or Cornell isn't a step up from where you attend but MIT is? Now you're just being ridiculous.

I turned down cornell for case out of high school.

Case gave me $20k/year. I feel that if I were to pay $40k, the only school really worth it to me would be MIT.

graaaad school people, remember he has a shot at grad school if he keeps his grades.

my dream school is UPenn. I've always wanted to go there ever since I matured (which was not long ago) and started thinking about my life seriously (which was also not very long ago).

But I'll tell you, even if i get accepted to UPenn now, I ain't goin' there cuz it just is too complicated for me. I'm savin' it foe mah graduate school, n'ain sayin, so it ain't botherin' me whatsoeva.

For people who don't plan on goin' to graduate school, then yeah, I guess it's a MUST to go to yo dream schoo', but if you eva plan on goin' to graduate school, then you don't have to be so desperate abat it.

you don't think caltech, upenn, or chicago is better than your school/worth it?
