Chances at New York University/University of Michigan?

Just curious to know if I even stand a chance at attending NYU or University of Michigan. I live in Washington, so University of Washington is probably the one I will end up at (but don't get me wrong, I really do like UW and it is my first choice.).

So yeah, it'd be awesome if I can get input on this. Thanks in advance if you do!

GPA: 3.69 unweighted.

[NOTE: This was due to an attendance problem . Because of lack of communication between the school and my house over the summer (I was gone to the learning center often, and everyone else was in Korea then), I couldn't do the reinstatement project and eventually failed one class. I explained to them that I would make it up in Spring when I take an online course...but yeah, it shows up as an F on the transcript. I had 10 1/3 absences (mainly due to tardies, because my brother wouldn't wake up early enough and he didn't take the punishment because his first period class was up the hill and didn't have bells). If I had kept the A-, it would be 3.85...but they wouldn't care anyways. This is the reason why I'm feeling so unsure about getting in UW]

And please, be honest. I won't be drowning in tears for some harsh remark or whatever, but you know...straightfoward.

NYU: Reach
UMich: Big Reach

Low SAT/SATII/GPA

you have a ok chance at nyu, why do you only have 3 years of science? schools might find that odd....good luck

^ no.. NYU lovesssss AP .
For NYU I think you need at least a 2000.. its really competitive now except for Steinhardt.. it looks like you had a easssy schedule cause you took no APs..

both reaches..

If you just applied to Michigan, big reach. If you applied over 2 months ago, decent chance.

Good luck.

Im gonna have to agree w/ everyone else for umich...its a big reach for you...your lack of ap's combined w/ a low sat score are really hurting you...

sorry to say but u got no chance at either. i know i kid that got a 2200 on his sat and he got declined from umich and his EC’s were better than urs

They’re both reaches, but you certainly have a chance, albeit small, especially if you didn’t apply ED and are OoS. So regardless of the comments you get here, by all means, apply!

Your SAT is average, and your GPA is a bit low but still within acceptance rates. The only real problem is that a) Both NYU and UMAA look heavily at AP/IB/Honors course load, and b) For UMAA, they accept less than 30% of students from OoS, so you’re competing for less spots. So I’d call NYU a reach, and UMAA a high reach, but good luck!

Are you guys kidding me? I posted this 3 years ago! xD
