Thanks to anyone who takes the time to read through this post and tell me their honest opinion.

low scores. dunno

Ok, this is ridiculous. I could handle one individual who had outstanding credentials wondering whether or not they can get into the top schools. If only activies, grades, and scores were important you would be one of MANY MANY suitable applicants. But it comes down to more than that! Such as your letters of rec, your essays, and your interview!

If you are looking for an experts opinion, however, go talk to your college advisors at your school, my friend, they would know far better than anyone else on this forum. Of course, if you would like a ego boost you could go to your friends :D

I've probably offended you but the point is that you have all the basics of a very strong student. Now just market yourself and your chances are good. At some point it becomes a lottery so pray to your god and stop roll'in them dice cause you're gunna need that luck :P

And Joe, what do you mean "low scores?" His scores are outstanding! And he doesn't have to submit his "3" AP US history test.

On another note, a huge load of ppl get varsity letters and that sort of thing so think about how you will market yourself and come off as an INDIVIDUAL. That's a very important aspect. Of course, if you have plans for world domination, don't share them, but other things are fine :D

I realize many kids who post their stats are simply looking for praise and the rest of us to awe at them, but my intentions are different. Yes, I do realize I have comparatively good stats, but I'm not posting them here for an ego boost, and after reading threads for the past couple weeks seeing kids with stellar numbers and an unbelievable amount of ec work, I wondered whether these kids were really "reaches" for Ivies or whether there were just ****ed off people telling them that. I'm not trying to show off or boost my ego; I'm not that insecure. I am just trying to get a realistic perspective and see how I measure up against those I'll be competing with for a spot at select institutions.

wow, what can i say... I think you have a good shot at princeton, although admission there (as with all ivy league schools) is extremely sparatic. Good luck though, your definitely in a better position than i am :)

Well said! I agree with fakeplastic1, you have a very good shot!

I'm applying ED to Princeton too. Your stats are impressive, and I think your chances are great, but this IS Princeton. You're up against people who have amazing stats too. One thing that surprised me was the fact that you're planning to take Math 1C. Definitely take IIC.

Go for it.

AA will give you the last push>

Low scores my ass

no ECs are outstanding, so you might not get in

His EC's aren't that bad. Everything else on his list of stats is quite impressive. No one can predict anything but it never hurts to try :)

You will need outstanding essays that will interest the first reader enough to get it to the committee. Great grades won't be enough but the entire application package is what counts.

I keep hearing this thing about first readers and commitee's when it comes to admissions. How does that process work nopoisonivy?

:)

Watch the video from Amherst called "The Best and the Brightest"

<a href="http://pbs-newshour.virage.com/cgi-bin/visearch?user=pbs-newshour&template=template.html&squery=%2BVideoAsset:pbsnh062204%5B/url%5D">http://pbs-newshour.virage.com/cgi-bin/visearch?user=pbs-newshour&template=template.html&squery=%2BVideoAsset:pbsnh062204</a></p>

great video!

this one was for RD

do you think all ED applicants get a vote.....I mean there are so few who apply ED.

bump........

i loved the video too...oh, good chances with urm status
