Chances at Princeton?

I go to arguably the most well respected high school in the country.
My grades, however, are quite average. (About a 3.3)
My SAT I: 750/720/660
My SAT II: 730/720/660 (friggin' Spanish)
My father was a well known graduate.

My extracurriculars are solid, not great.
My teacher recs will be enthusiastic.
My counselor has told me he will recommend me highly, and I have a letter being written on my behalf by an alumni interviewer.

I know Princeton is lenient on its alumni sons, but don't know if I've done enough.

My chances?
Thanks!

While it would be hard to pick one high school as the nation's best--there are at least 4 NYC high schools and 4 boarding schools claiming the title and I'm sure many, many others--any good school's counselor can give you your best guess. Princeton take more legacies than most ivies but you're asking a lot.....

Thanks for the words

I did say arguably most well respected -- I don't think any school can rightfully claim 'best'.

In any event, it's Phillips Andover.

I'm well aware my credentials are not up to Princeton standards: the only reason I'm applying is because my father is a graduate of the school, one they are quite proud of if I'm not mistaken.

My counselor has said it is a reach, but all of the 'best' ivies are generally considered reaches at PA barring particularly spectacular circumstances. Regardless, he has been vague. He says my status as a legacy will undoubtedly help, but won't go any further than that, and I am not going to prod him for info this late in the game.

I was only wondering so I can manage expectations -- I want to be able to tell my mother the odds are either good or not so promising.

Thanks!

3.3? yikes

Then say your odds are not so promising.

Your counselor said your legacy relation would undoubtedly help because it undoubtedly will, but it won't make up for all of the other faults in your application.

Well, haha I applied to Phillips Andover and Phillips Exeter, and I did not get into both of them when I was in eighth grade! It was a heart break! I got into every prestigious private high school in NYC when I applied, so take it from me, Andover and Exeter are probably top 5. I would say you have a very good shot, since you have your father as back up. Your 3.3 is terrible, however, what can you do about it now!? SAT I is good, SAT II's are okay. If you apply ED, which I hope to god you do, then I can say you have a good shot! Good luck!

Well, I go to Andover as well. I'm hoping that's a 3.3 in a 4.0 scale, and not our scale?

haha, yeah. It's like a 4.8, I just did a quick rounding job.

I just decided to check this place out today, it's crazy busy.

Have your alumni parent call admissions, they'll be very upfront about what they expect from legacy candidates.
