Chances at SLO?

GPA = 4.25 weighted for now (still one more semester of jr. year)
SAT = 1950 (680/600/670 m/cr/w)
Class(2006) rank = 2/400(?)

I’m planning to apply ED under MechE. You guys think I’ll even have a chance? If I get rejected ED, would I automatically be sent to the RD batch? I know it’ll be hard work, but would I be able to survive MechE at SLO (based on my stats)? Any advice and/or opinions would be appreciated!

I think you can make it, I had about a 3.2 and 1480 and got into Cal Poly for computer engineering.

cake:
How are you doing in SLO right now? Is CE pretty difficult? Do you manage to find time for relaxing? How's the student body and profs? Thanks!

Sorry, I got in for next year (I'm a senior in high school), so I can't really give you any information. I'm not even sure if I'm going there next year.

At Open House they said that for every 1 selected to Computer Engineering program, that 8 - 9 were turned away. Could that be right? Sounds awfully low.

woah those are really good stats! i'm a "conditionally admitted" freshman who got into software engineering with hella lower stats than you. so i assure you, you're almost guaranteed to get in.
my stats:
weighted gpa 3.35
sat: 1320 out of 1600
act 30
asian female--do they give me brownie points for being a minority?
i think you stand a very good chance of getting in.

I got into Architectural Engineering at SLO. Thats where Im going!

4.2 gPA

800 M/ 630 V SAT

I got into EE with a 3.8 GPA and 1300 SAT.
Just be aware that you'll have a harder time if you applying to the "super-impacted" majors (e.g. MechE, Comp. Sci., Computer Engineering, pretty much anything in architecture, just to name a few).

Your chances depend on the stats of the other applicants applying for the same major as you.
