I am a white male from a middle-sized town in Massachusetts. I am currently a junior.
GPA:
UW:4.0 W: 4.37 (4.45 excluding freshmen year) Rank: 1/150
APs:
Sophomore year
Bio -4
Calc AB-5
Currently taking AP calc BC, AP Physics, and AP Language. I am taking honors environmental science and will take the AP exam because my school does not offer APES.
For my senior year, I will be taking APUSH and AP Lit. Those are the only two remaining AP classes that my school offers, so I will be taking courses at a local state college and one course through the Harvard extension school.
EC:
President of my class (9-11, hopefully, 12) - Student council’s rep to the school committee and school council
Varsity Cross country (Captain 10-12)
Varsity Track and Field (9-12)
CCD teacher (9-12)
Founder of my school’s newspaper. I am the chief editor, and also write an environmental science-based column(10-12)
Math club (9-12) captain (11-12)
Science Club (11-12) - Tutor middle school students with science fair projects
Have worked at an ice cream place since the beginning of my sophomore year, about 12 hours a week.
Intern at UMass Medical school (3-week summer program)
Founder of an environmental project in my town (10-12) and have interned with the company that runs the reservoir in my town for 2 years.
SAT:
Haven’t taken any tests yet, but hope to score 700+ in both Reading and Math.
I’ve taken many practice tests and seem to be scoring around 1450 but I will not be taking them until March, so hopefully I can improve to around 1500. (Of course, you never know how you’ll score before you take the exam, but this is what I’m hoping for)
SAT II:
Plan on taking 3 (Bio Math 2 and Physics)
I haven’t written any essays yet but I have written drafts that I hope will morph into well-written essays.
I already know that my recommendations will all be very good.
I hope to be a bio major
I know that those schools are all very difficult to get into, so any advice would be appreciated!
Your GPA is good. Right now, it’s not really possible to accurately chance you at all since you have no standardized test scores and no junior grades or 7th semester grades, which are the most important. Focus on your grades and extracurriculars - not essays yet.
From such a small school Naviance data is not predictive of anything (except maybe with respect to Tufts since you sound close by) but you should pay attention to where last year’s graduates ended up and where this year’s seniors are applying. Find out where the past valedictorians got in. Those results can give you a feel for your chances.
