Chances at Stanford?

Okay, I'm a junior at a mid-sized Catholic private school in south Louisiana.

Thanks!

get your test scores to atleasy a 2300 SAT or 34-35 ACT to have a good chance

tough luck, stanford is a really difficult school to get in, and yes you should definitely bring those scores up. Work on your essays!

208 on the PSAT is not really an ouch. The PSAT is a very preliminary assessment and can most certainly be raised. And colleges never see it.

For Stanford, your SAT should be a 2200+. I say you have a chance if you work hard on your test scores, applications, and keep your GPA up. You have a chance, but it’s still a reach. Keep an open mind and look at other schools, too- there are plenty of selective and intellectual colleges out there that aren’t Ivies.

Your location is a huge boost. It’s much easier for you to stand out from an under-represented region.

Thanks for all the responses! I’ve started working on my essays already and as a future music major, I have a lot of good ideas about applying mathematics and such to conducting as a drum major and other things.

Also, I don’t mean to sound conceited in any way, but I think it’s quite possible that my music supplement will give me a huge boost. My voice is ridiculously mature for my age and I pretty much have the voice of the average 30 year old tenor. Does anyone have an idea of how much that would help?
