What are my chances at my reaches and midranges? and where should i, if i should at all, apply Early Decision (ive been thinking Penn but im open to advice)?

Those reach schools are impossible unless you get the scores up.

To be perfectly honest, your list should look like this.
Midrange: UF, BU, Georgia Tech
Reaches: USC, UCLA, UCSD, NYU

i know "/ stupid scores lol

thats why im retaking. lets say with a M 800 CR 660 W 640

then what?

Same, unfortunately. Without a hook it’s very unusual to see kids without mid 700s across the board at your reach schools, maybe low 700s at JHU. The increased scores put USC, NYU and the UCs in range, but any aid unlikely from NYU and you’d need to be in state or full pay at the UCs.

I would also not call BU safe with current scores.

what do you mean by hook?

Hook=minority, connected legacy, recruited athlete, rich/famous (Emma Watson goes to Brown).

BU is more of a low/mid target for you. The reaches most likely aren’t going to happen.

if i either had like a 2240 total SAT or like a 35 ACT would the Reaches seem more realistic?

Yes, they would definitely seem more realistic with those scores (though it depends on the breakdown. If 2240 = 800, 730, 710 or something like that, then I’d say yes). I know a girl who got into Hopkins with those scores.

is an arab minority considered a hook? or are they specifically looking for black/ hispanic…

Don’t think of UF as a safety (unless you are NMF or IB). Apply to other schools in Florida as well. You want to be able to take advantage of Bright Futures.

No, Arabs are not URMs at US colleges.

yeah im a white and jewish male lol

to get accepted to any of the reaches what do you think i could do at this point?

also where should i apply ED if at all?

please give me advice

ED doesn’t actually increase your chances at most schools. The caliber of applicants in the early round is often much higher, and that is why the acceptance rate is higher.

i would apply ED simply to know earlier if id get in not for easier chances or anything.

to restate the questions…to get accepted to any of the reaches what do you think i could do at this point?

also where should i apply ED if at all?

NYU might be a good bet for ED as long as you can afford it. You don’t mention class rank–this assumes you’re at least top 15%.

For the others, you would likely need over 300 more points on the SAT to be a real contender (and be minimum top 5% of class). Not many can improve that much.

You need an outstanding EC effort that defines you and shows your passion. That would apply even if your scores were 300 points higher.

im about top 2% right now (15/703) but i think top like 1.5 after this semester.

Hopefully June SAT will reflect those 300+ extra points im planning on it because im done with APs now so i can focus on it whereas on my other SAT days ive been real busy.

and if you look at my EC im REGIONAL cvp for the organization called NFTY for all of florida. not to sound conceited but ive been working towards that position for a good 5 years and im really passionate about it. i lead all teen reform jews south of jacksonville

No chance until you hit the 2100. Sorry. Come back when you hit the 2100+ SAT score.
