Hi,
I want to pursue a Comuter Engg. degree from any one of these :
Stanford (Just a dream :] )
U Michigan - Ann Arbor
U Illinois - UC
U Texas - Austin
Carnegie Mellon
Cornell
Georgia Institute of Technology
UC Berkely
U Washington

Location : India
SAT (expecting) :
Math 790-800
CR 750+
Writing 750+
Total 2300+

Percentage in class 12th examination (India) :55 % (!)
[No GPA or Rank]

Can I get into any of these ??
Please leave your opinions.

once u get ur SAT scores we'll be able to judge... ur class percentage is very low... the overwhelming majority of students who apply to top universities are in the top 5%

As Sahil said, any idea that anyone can give you, will only be possible once you give us SAT scores, 55% unfortunately makes it v. v. hard. Even if you get v. high scores in your SAT and SAT IIs (if you're taking them), you'll be competing with far higher qualified applicants who'll be applying to, for example, U Texas - Austin as more of a match/safety than anything else.

The 55 percent isn't is bad as everybody else is making it seem, I think. I remember my dad telling me that in his graduating class, the highest score on a certain exit exam in India was a 60 percent...

Thanks for the replies.
I am taking the SAT I in October and the SAT IIs in November.
The scores that I've given are based upon my current practice tests in my coaching classes.
Actually in India once u pass a 12th grade exam u cant appear for it again and unfortunately I passed though I hadn't studied. So, I had no options left in India as i could not get admitted to good schools here coz of my 55 %.
That's why I am trying for schools in the US.

Without GPA, I think that 55% is really going to hurt your admission chances at Berkeley and please, spell our school correctly, it is not "Berkely".

Well, if you were going through the CBSE or ISC curriculum, 55%, would be hard, you could add a positive to your stats though, if you study hard for your SATs and show a change through them (possible essay topic as well)

Have you considered colleges in other places than the US, For instance in Dubai there are a number of colleges where you can (even if your grades aren't the best) get admission, and if you do well, transfer to a better college (BITS, Dubai campus and the Pilani, for example).

I know that, (some of my cousins got in through the BITSAT), but the admissions procedure for the Dubai branch is different. The fees are different as well.
