I posted this a while ago, but now I'm wondering much more about this set of schools. So I go to a really good private school which is recognized as being like extremely hard and such. Like this year, out of a class of 110, we sent like 21 kids to HYPS. People in the middle(B - B+) of that class got sent to like Duke(rarely), Hopkins, Emory etc. And everybody got into college.
And I just got back my jr year grades, and my gpa(we dont actually have GPAs but i calculated it) was a 3.57. It had been a little bit lower freshman and sophomore years(like a B/B+).

My sats were 2210 - 750 CR, 720 W, 740 M.
Sat IIs - 710Math I, 720 US history.

The highlights of my extras are
1.) 3 sport varsity athlete
Baseball, varsity since freshman year.
Cross Country - 1 year varsity.
Indoor track - 2 years varsity.
However, I do not want to play any sports in college.
2.) Newspaper sectional editor.
3.) Paid internship with a neurologist.
4.) Alumni Affairs club co-president (legit club that makes money for the school)
and a good amount of community service and such.

So, living in NY, what are my chances at these state school, in and out of state.

Suny Big
Wisconsin
Michigan
UVA
UCSD
UCLA
UT
William and Mary
Univeristy of Illinois
UNC

You have a really good SAT score! Your GPA isn’t bad either for most of the schools you listed. UCLA and UCSD are probably big reaches because of how competitive their out of state acceptance is. Michigan, UVA and UNC (Chapel Hill?) are probably reaches, too, but I don’t think it’s impossible with good essays and good recs. I would say the rest are match/in :). good luck!!

The only problems I see here are William and Mary and UCLA, because as the previous poster said, they are competitive. However, in the case of UCLA, your passion for sports might help you.

Other than that, everything else is a match :)

You have a great academic track, solid SAT scores, and good ECs. I think you have a very good chance at being a competitive candidate for all those schools. Now all you need are some outstanding essays and you will be good to go. Make sure your essays really reflect who you are and that they show your nature holistically and I think with that you will go far. Best of luck!!!

haha, i would die for your sat score! ugh, not fair! =P but anyways, great job, it looks like ur a shoe in for all those schools…just make sure ur essay is solid, and don’t worry about a thing…damn, ur one hell of a smart person! oh, u wanna chance me back?

UVA and UNC are the only ones that are reaches but it’s still possible. Next would be UCLA but that SAT score should be high enough. All the others are enouigh. Will you answer mine??

Your SAT scores are great, that will help! UCSD, UCLA, UVA, and UNC might all be reaches because you are out of state, but you definitely have a fighting chance. (I’m in the same situation with all of those schools)

UVA, UNC, and UCLA are the only ones you have to worry about, and possibly William and Mary. Other than that… match/in! Your SAT score should help you out.

I think you have a good shot at all of these schools. From what I know, Michigan, UVA, and UCLA will be sorta difficult, but your SATs are strong. Just write amazing essays (that deal with something that you are REALLY passionate about) and I think you’ll have a great chance at these schools.

You should be a shoe in at all the schools except for the california state schools where its hard for an out of stater to get in. UT Austin is a good option if you are looking for a state school that is more welcoming to out of staters.

UCLA and UNC would be a challenge for out-of-state, but I think you should fun.
3-sport varsity? that looks amazing.
any idea what youw ant to do yet? judging for your neurology internship medicine?
if so, focus your essays on that. volunteer in a hospital, etc.
