I'm just worried about my SAT scores because I studied extremely hard to get the scores I did (got in the 500's in each section on the PSAT's) so going up a significant amount will be hard

Any opinions??

all these views and no reply? come onnnn haha

Hi, I guess I’ll chance you

Scores hurt you, but you still have a decent chance at the selective schools you applied to.

wow, you really think that princeton and stanford are low reaaches? i feel like im at a disadvantage because i don’t have a hook, no national awards or anything, no scientific research or intel project.

Seahawk, do you know what you are talking about? No one should be said as a high match for Ivies, period. They are very unpredictable. I wouldn’t be surprised if every one of the Ivies and Ivy-caliber schools rejected because that’s how unpredictable they are.

That said, she lacks accomplishments. Scores are on the low side. But she does seem like someone with a shot at getting in.

at lest geek is a realist. haha.
thanks =). i guess you never really know with all the ivy’s, but what do you think about Vanderbilt, Mich, Emory etc?

You’re getting in those schools you said in post 7 don’t worry. The fact that you’re white will kill you but you’ve got a nice shot at the ivies.

Thanks, DMOC.

Would taking Math IC as opposed to Math IIC be detrimental to my chances? (Keeping in mind that I’d major in nothing remotely related to math or science, it’s be something like political science)

Anyone else, or any else that can answer my question from post #9?

some schools do not accept mathI i remember.

you should really be worried about ur 2180 or something if ur really hoping to hyps and ivies.

Your stats are well balanced.

It seems to me you don’t need financial aid.

However, nothing special, considering future applicants to apply the Ivies and Stanford.

Under the circumstances, if I were you, I would apply Early, focus upon an Essay and recommendations(which should prove your leadership), and upgrading SAT or ACT score(but I saw many times students to be accepted to Ivy with the similar stats as yours).

First things first, take the SAT. Your PSAT scores aren’t good enough to get you into prestigious schools, barring impressive hooks (which you lack), so do some prep and/or take the ACT.

vancouver-i 100% need as much FA as possible. theres no way id be able to afford college without financial aid (I’d of course figure out a way to may my EFC if accepted ED)
-I really want to apply early because i know that applying early to places such as Penn can SIGNIFICANTLY increase my chances as opposed to applying in the RD pool. but i feel like if I apply to Penn ED and get in (hypothetically) I’d have regrets about schools like Dartmouth and DUke

glass-i did take my SAT’s, the scores are posted in the beginnign of the thread, i just mentioned the PSAT scores to show that I jumped more than 100 points in each section so idk how much more i can improve my scores.

Take Math I ( I assume you meant I and not IC ) since it doesn’t matter if you don’t take Math II instead of Math I. Even MIT says they don’t give a preference to either test.

Please read carefully. I meant it would be good to apply early, when you need not to request F.A. Even if you apply Penn early, it will never, never increase your chance as opposed to applying in the RD pool. As far as I know, except the legacy, athletics and children of their faculty, the acceptance rate of ED is lower than that of RD. Moreover, if you intend to request FD, it will be not good for you to apply ED.

Oh, whoops. Well your scores are fine, but they may be more Emory-level than HYPS&Duke.

Alright, thanks guys. I think I’ll probably just end up applying to all of these schools RD and hoping for the best.

Any more chances? (or suggestions for safety schools)
