Chances at Transfering to UChicago +others

Stats:
School: SUNY-Geneseo
Major: Math +maybe Chem (Pre-Med)
GPA: probably about a 3.7
Class: Freshman
Courses taken (by end of spring): Gen Chem I/II +2 1-credit lab, Gen Bio I/II +1 2-credit lab, Calc III, Diff Eq, Elementary Linear Algebra, Principles of Physical Chem, and my Freshman Writing Class
ACT: 34
ECs: Do my own research on the effects of various things on the growth rates of the grass used on golf course putting greens, it is my project and mine alone, just the faculty member and I are involved with it. Also in a Biomathematics Research Group.

My high school stuff got me into USC, Tufts, and Berkeley (from upstate NY) but I wasn't ready to move yet, but now I think I am.

Chances at: UChicago, Duke, USC, Penn, NWestern, Stanford, Cornell (CALS)

any suggestions for other schools... I don't really hate Geneseo in anyway, I like it quite a bit, so I don't really need "saftey schools" or really even "match" schools if any of those arent matches (I think that I will probably get into USC again but who knows)

Thanks

please, any opinions?

do you really think that you would be ready to go to ca for college?

yeah, i need to get away from home, and i need to experience something new in my life, at the very least i need to get out of rural upstate new york.

Chances of anyone tranferring to Duke, Penn, NW, Stanford, Cornell L&S are slim. Hope you have a chance at Chicago, buteve there's getting tougher every yr, but I think you'll get into SC. How about Bucknell, Colgate, or eng schools that accept a higher % of transfers b/c folks can't handle it, like RPI?

Chances of transfer to any of the schools you named is slim, strictly judging by percent of transfer apps accepted. However, you are obviously a top student. Your chances are better than most, and obviously some apps are accepted. So I would say you have a good chance ... better than most. Please remember that no one can say for sure one way or the other, though (except the admissions committee!).

The transfer rate at UChicago is actually not too horrible:
(figures from collegeboard.com)

Transfer Students

* Total number of transfer students who applied: 621
* Total number of transfer students who were admitted: 161

That's still less than the freshman admission rate for Chicago. I have no idea if the transfer pool is stronger or weaker on the whole than the freshman pool, though.

If im a NY resident shuoldnt that help me transfer into Cornell CLAS considering its a state contract college?
