Will I be able to get into a UC if I got a D in my second semester Calc AB class junior year but have already completed the 4 years of math needed for the A-G requirements.

My target UC school is Santa Cruz.

Thanks

I would say having a D on your HS transcript will make admission to any UC difficult even if you have fulfilled the a-g course requirements. Even a 1 or 2 C’s may put most applicants out of the running. I would repeat AP Calc AB Senior year so you can indicate on the UC application you are retaking the class. Since all the UC’s have become so competitive and have far more qualified applicants than spots, anything you can do to improve your chances should be taken. Apply if you want, but make sure you have some good backup schools you are willing to attend just in case.

Good luck.

It would have been better if you’d re-taken the course with a better grade. It is worth a shot, be sure to explain your grade.

Apply to some CSUs like SDSU and CSULB. It would be a shame to get shut out.

My school works with the local community college, and classes taken there can put into my high school transcript, so if I retake the class at the CC during the college’s spring semester (during second semester for my high school), could I mention that I plan on doing so in my college apps? The spring semester at the college ends before my HS graduation, so the retaken class would be included in my final transcript.
