Chances at UChicago, I'd appreciate your help

I am a senior who has university of chicago as my first choice as of now. If anyone could evaluate my chances at all, or has any advice, i'd be very thankful.

While male from Kentucky
GPA 3.94 UW, not sure weighted, but A's in all honors and AP's
Rank: 2/209 weighted GPA
Taking hardest courses at school 8 Ap's by senior year.
SAT: 700 Math 800 Verbal 800 Writing
SAT II (i know they don't require them but) 790 U.S History and 800 World history
AP Calculus AB: 5
AP U.S. History: 5
AP Chemistry: 4

National merit semifinalist
A few state awards in French nothing first or second place, and some school awards

Extracurriculars
French Club (9-12) President as Junior
French Honors Society (11-12)
Chess Club (9)
Intramural Volleyball (11-12)
TATU (11-12)
Beta Club, NHS, (not really anything but service)
President's Leadership seminar (12) (can only do one year)

Extracurriculars are my biggest concern, there isn't much there to begin with, and they don't show much commitment. How much of a handicap will this be.
I have visited the school and really liked it. I am going to pour my heart and soul into my essays and short answers, and try to make them creative. Any comments are welcome, and thanks in advance.

you have a very good chance at UC ...60% I'd say

Thank you. By the way, i am going to apply early action, if that makes any difference.

Your lack of ec's is balanced out by your good scores and the fact that you are from Kansas. So right now, you're pretty much on the fence. Write really really good essays, and you have a fantastic shot at getting in.

I think you have a very good chance. Except for also having Scouts, my ecs were somewhat similar, and I got in. Chicago is extremely odd in admissions, though, so it's hard to tell (check out the RD thread and you'll see what I mean). Like Koala said, a good essay will almost definitely give you an excellent chance.

Koala- He's from Kentucky. :)

Thank you both for replying. Does anyone have any suggestions for good schools where extracurriculars aren't as important? I know that there probably aren't too many and i know that my extracurriculars are rather poor, but any thoughts would be welcomed.

hahaha oops my mistake. Thanks for pointing that out, Warblersrule :)

"Does anyone have any suggestions for good schools where extracurriculars aren't as important?"

Why yes....Those are commonly referred to as state schools.
