i was wondering what my chances are at engineering programs at:
stanford
ucberkeley
ucla
ucsd
calpoly

however, i am worried due to my math classes... although math is probably my best subject, i was placed into a wierd program in jr high and was not able to get into calculus, however i will be taking calculus at a cc during the summer.

UC GPA: sophomore year 3.80 (overall is 3.83 UW--the UCs don't count PE courses)
UC GPA: junior year 4.4167 (overall is 3.75 UW--UCs cap at 8 semesters of honors/APs/IBs)
UC GPA (overall): 4.136667 (overall is 3.772 UW GPA)

With your 2400 SAT I plus two 700+ SAT IIs, 4 college courses (3 As plus 1 B) and two year student body president, plus running track for three years, you are a match at all the UCs and at Cal Poly SLO (or Pomona), even for engineering--which is the toughest major.

At Stanford you are also a match, although the only thing that is a question mark is a lack of academic awards. My guess is you will still get in although your odds are only about 60%, as opposed to about 67% at UC Berkeley for Engineering, 75% at UCLA, and 85% to 90% at UCSD and Cal Poly SLO. Just don't let your senior grades slip, write a great essay, and you should be fine.

P.S. Some of these odds may seem a little harsh given your accomplishments, but after reading thousands of threads on here, and counseling some other students personally, I know you will be competing against many other students with even higher UC GPAs and tougher courseloads, but without the great test scores and experience as student body president (leadership) that your background demonstrates.
