Your GPA is low for most UCLA Applicants (avg was 4.0-4.1 I think).

Your SAT scores make up for your GPA...check your UC eligbility for out-of-state.

SAT IIs are good as well.

UCLA admitted applicants (more than 70%) rank in the top 4% of their graduating class (based on ELC).

Your ec's are good...could have a little more leadership positions...the community work goes well.

BIGGEST FACTOR HURTING YOU: You live in New York. UC's generally admit California residents. Out-of-state admit pool is about the same percentage for in-state but more competitve. UCs also like to admit "under-represented" minorities (e.g. African American, Hispanic, Native American/Alaskan) but they don't discriminate (hence the dominant Asian presence at UCLA).

ucla would be somewhat of a slight reach/match if you were in-state. its gonna be tough for you out-of-state because so many more californian applicants will have similar stats as yours.

The GPA is a bit low and the fact your are out of state will make it tough for you. I wouldn't hold your breath bud. You have a nice app, why not apply to a state school in NY?

I have to agree, your GPA is definitely on the low side (is that weighted or no?), and your SATII scores are also a detriment to your application. And with being out of state.... if you really want to go to UCLA, definitely apply - you never know

Exilio, the state schools in NY are not as attractive as UCLA for most students...UCLA is a national caliber school, the SUNY's, for the most part, don't compete on that level though there are some fine programs to be found there (I've met some impressive SUNY grads). With what UCLA charges out-of-state students, the OP could be looking at any private school in the country and, unless he/she has a fearfully high EFC, the cost would be the same after the FinAid dust settles.

That said, yeah, the profile doesn't look as good to me this morning as it did last night.
There are going to be many applicants with stronger class ranks and SAT II's. Yours aren't bad but UCLA is highly competitive and there will be a lot of stunned seniors here in California come April.

I also want to agree with Icarus...still complete the app. Just sell yourself to UCLA. It only costs $50 to try and if you get in, it will be well worth the price...right? =D

Actually, now that I remember it...55..and I applied to 4 UCs ...$220..ouch. That's like paying someone to kick me in the nuts if I get rejected.

yes kfc4u.. sadly tey are now 55 per school.. thank goodness i got fee wavier.. or i would spent 160+ on nothing since i had to withdraw my applications..(got in ED to another school)
