any recommendations to improve my chances?

oh white middle class caucasian if it makes a difference

Class rank is important to know for UCs.

Your SATs are weak, even for UCs, but are not even close to being in the ballpark for Brown or Yale. Your SATIIs and APs speak to grade inflation at your HS. The UCs are used to this, but it won't be missed at top colleges. With a 200 point plus increase on the SATI you have a chance at USC.

In all honesty, this is one of the most misguided college lists I've seen on CC, and there are many off track ones. But you go to an "ultra competitive" school in a sophisticated city, they should have scatter grams or a counselor that tells you a 620 SATII won't fly at an ivy. Sorry to be so straight, but better now than in April.

bumppppppppppp

shopaholic234:

UCB/UCLA: Reach
UCSD: Slight Reach
UCSB: Match

Troll alert. She keeps posting the same info and getting the same answers. Don't waste time answering.

15 ppl out of 200 - that is not a uc feeder.

My school. 400 students in a grade. Around 120 or so are accepted to UCLA and UC Berkeley each.

Don't want to shatter your dreams, but I would not apply to yale. The reach is too much, and you have some crazy grade inflation. 580 and gets an A in AP Bio? My school most A students have 800s in AP Bio. A 2 for APUSH and A in the class. That is funny. A 2 is equivalent to D at most colleges.

stupid bobby, they are updated.....go play in traffic u bitter moron

I agree with FastMed on all points.

Yale and Brown seem huge reaches...My SAT is ~250 pts more than yours and I still think I have extremely silm chances in getting in...

But in the lower UCs you should be fine due to ELC. Berkeley or LA however are slight reaches due to test scores.

Agree with most of this.

It would help if you actually calculate your GPA. It looks like you have around a 3.8.

Your chances:

Yale: 1%
Brown: 5%
Johns Hopkins: 10%
UCB: 25%
UCLA: 35%
USC: 40%
UCSD: 65%
UCSB: 90%

Improve? Well, first of all, improve your test scores, especially SAT IIs. But then again, usually students don't increase dramatically on a second retake.

Work a lot on your essays I guess. Honestly there's not much one CAN do to improve his chances greatly. Just apply and see what happens. I would say don't bother with Yale or Brown though. Sorry.

bummp i love this :)

Well I had fun playing in traffic and I didn't get hit by a car. In NYC the odds of that are millions to one, maybe hundreds of millions to one, actually about the same as your chances at Harvard, Brown and the top UC!

oh what a burn bobby!!!! im like seriously hurting cuz of what u just said. how in the world did you come up with such a clever statment????

haha go get a life u piece of ****

"Class rank is important to know for UCs."

Um.. hello? No class ranks for UCs

haha i didn't even notice that dumbass wrote that about class rank.

so turns out he is a clueless poser in addition to being a bitter ass.

I think he was being sarcastic since you mentioned ELC. ELC does not help. It only guarantees you to UC system.

Don't try explaining that here fast, there is little hope......

anympre?????????

Be sure to write some kickass Personal statements and essays, very important in Berkeley admissions *
