Chances at ucsb or any uc?

My uc gpa is a little on the low side (3.3-3.4) I havnt taken my act yet but am planning on taking it until I get a 28+
ECs:
I play guitar
I volunteer at a local haunted house
I volunteer at a community center
I am a member of 6 clubs and secretary and treasurer of one
I assist my dad in his job
I am going to take community college courses my senior year
I play club sports outside of school
I have a chance at employment

Of I achieve an excellent essay about my Persian decent and my generous personality what are my chances of getting into a UC? What UCs do I have a shot at? UC Santa Barbara specifically

Sorry but can’t really chance you until your scores come out.
However I do have some advice to give, but first, are you a rising sophomore, junior, or senior? What you currently are will affect your chances of getting into a UC, in your case specifically, UCSB

Right now, your gpa is the average (if you look on UCSB’s admission website). That means if you want to be noticed, you should try to boost it up into the 3.6-3.8 to show that you aren’t just doing the minimum.

If you don’t do well on the ACT, I suggest the SAT. It’s literally just “practice makes perfect”. I took about 15 practice tests before the actual thing and got a 2200. Not super ideal, but some silly mistakes made me lose my 800 in math. However, if you find that you get a ~30 on the ACT you should stick with that and try to get even higher (if you have enough time left).

I’ll list the UC’s that you do have a chance at if you manage to raise your GPA to 3.6-3.8 and ACT ~30

UCD
UCI
UCSD
UCSB
UCR

As for UCLA and UCB, your scores are not within their range, so it is even more important for you to raise your gpa to have a better chance at those.

I am a rising senior so I can’t change my uc gpa but I am going to practice as much as I can on the act and take it 3 times. I forgot to mention I will be taking 2 SAT IIs (math and history) and I can raise my gpa 3.6. What about ucsc?

Ah that’s a bummer.
If you can manage at least 700 on both Math and History I’d say you have a fair chance for both SB and SC. Given the fact that you get a ~30 on the ACT. Good luck!
