Chances at UCSB, U of Wisconsin, U of Michigan, Mizzou, WVU, and Ole Miss?

<p>I'm a white male from Texas.</p>

<p>Grades</p>

<p>I have a cumulative 3.5/4.0 at my school. My GPA freshman year was awful (2.9) but I was new there and its a very tough private school, so I may be able to explain that. I had a 3.7 sophomore year. This year I only have A's and high B's. I've taken honors world history, honors chemistry, honors intermediate technology, honors computer programming, AP European history, AP US history, and AP english lang comp. Last year I got a 4 on the AP European exam. I haven't taken the APs for this year yet. Next year I plan on taking AP gov and AP lit, along with honors math.</p>

<p>2 questions: Why those schools? You have named some “Public Ivys” and some lesser quality flagships. (Why would you want to go to school in West Virginia anyway? The don’t call it Morganhole for nothing!). Also, what is your intended major or areas of academic interest?</p>

U of michigan-reach due to GPA, OOS status and SAT. Did you win awards at Olympic weightlifting?</p>

<p>Also, if you like those schools that you mentioned, are you considering U Maryland (great academics, sports and close to DC by Metro) or Penn State or UVa?</p>

<p>UMich is a reach for 3.5/2010 from OOS.</p>
