Chances at UCSD Thanks

So you're saying that I have a 30% chance of getting in UCSD? Thats it?

i would say you have approx a 25%-35% chance of getting admitted to UCSD. I would apply to Berkeley, UCLA, UCSD for reaches or slight reaches, and would apply to UCI, UCSB, UC Davis for safe matches.

slight reach/match

i know people with lower stats than you who got into berkley

dude, ucsd gives a bunch of points for things outside of SAT's and GPA's.

try to rack up as many points as you can to make the cut off.

3.92 GPA, and 1950 SAT already puts you in a good starting position; just look to add points with leadership, volunteering, any personal challanges and you should get accepted.

your stats are very similar to mine; good luck.

It also depends on your intended major. If you're going for science/pre-med/engineering at UCSD, it would be a reach. The acceptance rate for incoming freshmans for fall 2006 is about 30%. And of those 30%, a higher number choose that school than they expected. If you consider the natural inflation of applicants each year and the influx of new studens this year, I expect the acceptance rate to drop even more. Though I could be wrong. Also, it is in my opinion that although they say your race doesn't matter, it still matters, at least a little. Because of affirmative action policy, you are likely to be compared to applicants of your race, not all applicants as a whole.

My recommendation for you if you want to get into UCSD is to take more SAT II subject tests that pertain to your major, retake SAT 1 again and try to get a higher score, and write a kick ass essay. For your major, select "undecided" if you are not going for Bioengineering, CSE, or ECE. That would boost your chance, I imagine.

You're set for UCD, I'd say. Apply to Irvine as well, it's ranked higher now than Davis.
