Hey I have a 3.92 GPA with all the honors credit and everything 1950 SATs 780 Chinese, 720 Math 2C and decent extracurricular with volunteer hours. Anyone have a decent idea of my chances at UCSD and UC Davis? Thanks

SD - reach, but go for it, you have a chance
davis - less of a reach

Anyone else have any ideas?

bump....................

I don't think SD is a reach. maybe a slight reach/match. I think you're in at both SD and Davis.

vgcoder - ........A 3.92 1950 SAT's a reach? Hello?! UCSD is not extremely selective and a 3.92 is right up there. Its more of a match in my mind.

It's a reach for any science major, a match for most others. I would try to raise the SAT and if you're chinese, take another real SATII.

Any other comments would be greatly appreciated.

UCSD - Match, I'd say
U Davis - Match
In state?

Yep, in state.

Double match IMO

Just wondering is that a UC GPA, or a cumulative unweighted GPA that you are giving? I think its best to work with a UC GPA for chances.

It is my gpa up until junior year with all the honors credit A=5 pts, B=4, so on and so on

UCSD - slight reach

3.92 is a bit low for SD. So is that 1950. Now if you had a 2100 and a 3.92 I would say match.

Hello?! UCSD's average admit is well over a 4.0 and i believe the last time i looked at their single sitting SAT average it was around a 1307, pretty selective for a single sitting score, especially compared to many other schools multiple sitting format which inflates SAT scores considerably over the single sitting computation. 4.0+GPA 1300+SAT. That is pretty selective. This would make the poster's chances likely a slight reach. For engineering it would be a reach. UC Davis would be a safe match.

UCSD: Slight Reach
(Reach for Engineering)

UC Davis: Safe Match

CollectiveX... how do you state that the poster has equal chance to get into UC Davis as UCSD. There is a significant difference in admission standards between those two schools. I believe 3.8 GPA for Davis, low 1200 SAT's high sixties percent acceptance rate. Well above a 4.0 GPA for UCSD, low 1300 SAT's and low fourties percent acceptance rate. That is a large difference in competiveness.

Assuming you are a California resident,
UCSD: Slight Reach
UCD: Match

UCSD: Very Slight Reach
UCD: Safety

One question though, a slight reach is about what percent chance?

like 30% chance
