My ambition is to do undergrad at UNC-CH and eventually enter Medical School. If not there, my other choice would be ECU, then NC State. Appalachian St would be last choice.

I know my test scores aren't very high and i'll most likely be retesting both in October.

Please chance me at UNC-CH, ECU, NC State, and App St.

You have pretty good EC’s and a good amount (but not an overload) of AP’s. You’re in-state, so you’re most likely in at all of those schools. I’d advise you not to send your SAT scores though - send your ACT scores instead. But of course if you have the time, try to retake both!

That’s a good idea on not sending my current SAT score. I’ll probably try and retest if I have time, but I prefer the ACT test over the SAT because it seems easier.
Thanks.

UNC-CH is a high reach. It is getting tougher to get into, and even though you are in-state, the ACT score is too low. You have a good chance of getting into NC State and you’ll certainly get into ECU and appalachian st. Try to get that GPA up to 3.5 and the ACT to a 28, then you have a much better chance at UNC-CH.

Yeah i’m not sure how much i’ll be able to increase my GPA going into my senior year because I think the UNC application deadline is January? Not too sure. I’ll definitely retake the ACT and shoot for a 28.

If the application deadline is January, then you will have to report your Senior fall semester grades. If you can get mostly A’s in all your classes then that will show UNC that you are on the upward trend and increase your chances. UNC will like the fact that you challenged yourself in high school. Good luck!

Well I suppose i’d like to choose a university that has an established Medical School (such as UNC-CH and ECU) to get a better feel for the campus and since the university must already have a good science program and one of the better up and coming universities medical-wise. I’m really don’t know much about NC State besides being a superior school for engineering which I am not really interested in.

Like others said, Chapel Hill’s a reach. Focus on getting all A’s your senior year to bring your GPA up, and buy an SAT practice book. I would say to aim for at least an 1850.

You’ll definitely get into ECU and App. You have a good shot at NC State. I also think it’s kind of questionable to choose ECU over NC State, though. NC State’s a better school academic wise and has good science programs, even if you’re not interested in engineering.

Just got back from a visit at UNC and found out they superscore the ACT so now I have a 27… A bit better than 26. I’m still gonna retest and shoot for a 30. Also they talked about the admissions process and they really don’t care much about your GPA, they look at the difficulty of classes you are taking and how well you did in them. They stressed alot on the essays and reccomendations and how they are really sometimes the deciding factor in most applications because they look at a person’s application as a whole and not just one number.

I don’t know why everyone is saying UNC is a reach for you. I apologize if this sounds rude, but it is MUCH easier for in-state students to get accepted there. You can definitely get in with a good essay and recommendations.
